Great build Pat and well done MadMatt on a great walk around. i dont often bother to comment on vids but to see a well built (even it was with sponsers etc) Amarok is a pleasure (god not another Toyyawn). I see the comments regarding carrying so much gear and i agree keep it simple but every build i see has great ideas, its not about adding all the fruit but adapting ideas to what suits you. By the way i have been driving a manual Amarok since 2012, Cape York, Vic High Country, The Simpson etc etc all with ease and 0 vehicle related issues (someone tried to steal one of my wheel in Swan Hill once, fell off at 110.... that was interesting!)

Pat hasn't proven anyone wrong about their thoughts on the Crappyrok, it's been heavily modified with a tonne of cash so now it's nothing like what you buy from the dealer. Ceramic cook tops useless. keg useless unless you’re an alcoholic. coffee machine useless , other than that the rear canopy and associated vehicle engineering is brilliantly thought out it’s a credit to the builders that were involved in this Frankenrok VW. @fvlok4 жыл бұрын
@@MadMatt4WD Yeah it's not ideal really. The forward first gear is low enough. However if one was venturing down a steep rocky downhill track where you might have to back out in reverse, rather walk there and walk back :) My father in law has the 2.0 BiTDI with the 8 speed, we go camp on a game farm fairly often. We often take the Amarok for game drives as it is such a nice comfortable ride. When we venture down a particular track with a very steep and rocky decline, I always joke that I spot some buck and ask him to please back up a few meters. Works a treat every time :)
@MadMatt4WD4 жыл бұрын
So you saying it does back up ok even though it has no low range?
@fvlok4 жыл бұрын
@@MadMatt4WD No. There is no backing up that hill in a Amarok 8speed. The reverse gear is not low enough. In fact it struggles to go up that hill even when we approach it going forward, the vehicle always makes it to the top, just not very elegantly as it seems to require some "pace" to keep the torque converter going. All that said, that is a terrible piece of track. I think my point remains. Don't go down something tricky and steep that you might need to back out of. If you unsure if there is a dead end, walk it first.
