later madness are ok are a aging adult I are but the early madness had somethng else -maybe going into a digital studio in the 80s did that -many of the bands in that era has sucky melodies, sucky sound, sucky recordings ,saying yes to some recording company because this is all we got and we know we are the best -( which nobody was -they lied thier ass off and ignored the facts) -the same situation are in the gaming industry now -it allabout graphics ( sound) and not the content in which older games exel but you have to have the lates gameengine to appeal to kids

Not being a native speaker, I'm having a hard time grasping the Terence/Terry anecdote which Sugg tells right at the beginning (0:14). From "now as I look back, someone ... (?)", I don't follow any more. Would be curious to know what this story is about, so if anyone could help me out and transcribe it or sum it up? Terrific footage by the way. Madness are one of the constants in my life from their very beginning. So glad they were part of my youth.

I first went to Camden Town in 1984 when I became a fan aged 13. It still holds the same excitement for me now as it did then. I grew up on the south side of the Northern line and after discovering the band, my south London roots never seemed to cut the mustard compared to the Holy Trinity of Chalk Farm, Camden Town and Mornington Crescent. Despite my best efforts I never bumped into the band members on their hallowed NW1 turf ( unlike lucky Lee) but it never mattered as in my mind, the tales I gathered would play out as I visited the "nutty" landmarks. This piece is so evocative of those times and strikes such a chord that I cannot express just how happy it makes me feel. I will be at the Roundhouse, just as I have been at Clapham, Hampstead and Central Hall this year. In 1984 I started writing on my pencil case " Be Mad Not Sad" and "Have Guts Be Nuts" I don't have a pencil case any more but I am still a Madness fan. And am likely to be until they put me in the ground. God bless the good ship Madness and all who sail in her - we truly are the chosen ones xxx

Bought my Crombee from Bondage and General in Southampton near the theatre where Madness were playing, think it was 1981. I've seen them a few times over the years. Lee Thompson & Madness is the reason I've finally started to learn to play the tenor saxophone. MADNESS superb!!! 🎷😎

This is awesome! I can't imagine what I'd do if I was in Laaaandan taaaan on an afternoon sesh and saw Lee, Chris and Suggs (with a pint!) wandering round, I'd flip me lid. And Woody and Bedders having a bit of a cultural tour with his Barbour jacket and umbrella. Good work fellas.

Wish I had the $ to fly over and see one of those gigs. I saw them for the 1st time in '81 I think, at UCLA. Great fun. They had Paul Carrack playing keys with them and he played a solo version of "Tempted". Great days for music. Peace.

I got my first pair of Dr Marten loafers from Holts and a pair of moonstompers with the screw on soles, would have bought me first pair of 14 hole steelers from there but they didn't get them in as early as the old boot shop in Tottenham Court Road and a fair few of us waited all nite so we could be down Carnaby St in our brand new and blister forming 14 hole steel toe caps lol In my neck of the woods we had Taylors of Penge who were like Ben Sherman gurus and often frequented by the likes of Bowie. Met Alexei Sayle in the tailors in Carnaby St as he used to get his tonic suits there, I suspect Adrian Edmonson's "Eddie" suit also came from the same stable hehe

My favourite band since being a teenager in the 80's, have "One Step Beyond" as my ringtone. "Walking with Mr Wheeze" is my favourite instrumental of any out there, can listen to it on repeat for ages!

@@jacl099175 The song at the start is "They call it Madness" kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y3muYYmHq690o7s Could be wrong but I think the song throughout is just a soundbite made for the video as I've never heard it before in relation to a Madness track.
