he got paid in cash and agreed to remove himself from production credit since it was already in her deal with Kamins that if he gets her signed he gets to produce, and Mark probably had it in writing. then warners wanted an experienced NYC producer on staff to work on the rest of the records so in comes Reggie Lucas. so Stephen agreed to take payment instead of participate. since he decided that himself, she called in her new boyfriend from Funhouse, DJ Jellybean Benitez to remix what she did with Reggie and that's how she finished her first album. capiche?? :-)

shockingly stephen only got 1k per song that he removed his name from on the first album. doesn't sound like a lot but it was a ton at the time, the way they were living was hand to mouth. he got a better place to live and had a bank account finally, plus Emmy went back and got Stephen to work on future records together. he's all over true blue, he co- wrote angel on the virgin album, and Stephen gets huge royalties from both those albums to this day, he also is on another album and more songs by her too. Stephen made out just fine financially, he's set for life due to emmy's loyalty to him and their creative chemistry together. he gets so many royalty checks he's a millionaire.
