It’s crazy to think she’s literally so different as an artist compared to back then, she has so much more artistic aspects to everything she does which is why I think she’s beyond an “80s artist” she was able to transcend way beyond that.

In her early pre fame years in NYC (late 70s, early 80s), she lived in apartment buildings in tough neighborhoods, and she owned a boombox where she listens to the radio and plays her cassette tapes of her fave songs/music and practiced her dance moves. Her apartment was broken into several times that she decided to befriend the building young boys (homies) who hang around for protection. She would bring her boombox in the rooftop and open lot of her building and these young friends of hers would sing and dance with her. She has pictures on line where she posed with them on the rooftop with her boombox. She likely played her first single of Everybody in 1982 in her boombox with her young homies in her building. She was like a pied piper of pop music to these young boys at that time.

Yes you get that she really loves performing live. She’s done it with such creativity throughout her career. I know I’m always personally mesmerized. Also there’s a lot of aspects about Madonna to appreciate so I don’t think you should feel pressured to recognize a certain vibe.

I prefer Madonna in this early tour in her career. Even without the costume changes, the set changes and large group of back up dancers, Madonna moves very well on stage. She’s one of those rare performers who can captivate an audience with a simple concert.

Thank you Seph for sharing ❤️, I may not know this song by Madonna very well (but I heard it before), also camera shots don't cross [especially] the 1's for bottom of the singer... also 🎵 you said something about people getting up on stage, when you say something audience members (at a Michael Jackson concert)their lucky enough to come up and hug him 🤗, but in recent I other artists to that to their fans ( 1 was a band that was formed by a [now] Oscar winning actor)... well that's all for now thank you ❤.

Its fine to me that you like her poppy lighter 80s songs. The beauty of her 40 year multiple-era career is that there is a Madonna for everyone. You will love this concert and the next one. 80s Madonna is your bop and that's ok, even if you like nothing else from her. Personally I like political activist/vulnerable ballad Madonna.

The chorus of this one reminds me of Prince's "Erotic City" released in 1984. But Madonna's tune was released in 1982, so maybe Prince was inspired by this. (2:40) "People say I don't understand the like, darker side or the more, you know, dirtier side of Madonna. But I just haven't heard it enough, I don't think. Give me time! I'm settling into being a Madonna fan." You haven't hit the peak of her dirty material, namely "Justify My Love" and "Erotica". Just you wait... 😜

My ears pricked up too when I heard Seph say, "I like butts! I can't lie." (4:02) But I immediately assumed that he was making a funny reference to Sir Mix-a-Lot's "Baby Got Back". @@SephPlays That's right. She didn't sing the entire song, "Everybody". She just teased it with that lyric. Funny thing is, I only recently heard "Everybody". In fact the first time may have been your reaction to the studio version of the song. And only then did I make the connection between that intro lyric during "Express Yourself" and this song. As such, I knew what @monsterxgaga1692 was referring to immediately.
