My favorite Madonna era, but also... my god, this took me back to my teenage years. I used to watch the Rosie O 'Donnell show with my grandma every day after school. Loved Rosie as one of my early role models, and still love her to this day!!! Take me back to this time!

I agree with each of you and will add I feel it's just in the last year or so that Madge at least on the surface seems a bit conflicted. Madonna is still Madonna past and present. I only wish for her to slightly snap out of societies forced pop culture image. If that makes sense?

Because she’s gone full narcissist, which I think would be contrary to the message and themes of the Ray of Light era
@Kaia6485 Жыл бұрын
@@imalwaysright Totally agree. Madonna peaked in the Ray of Light era, especially after giving birth to Lourdes. I feel it healed her in a way. Sadly, it didn’t last and she’s now just a shell of her former self.

"Mo" and Ro's" attempt at yoga was one of the most hilarious things I've seen! 😆 Madonna was in a great place at this time with Motherhood, sprituality (Cabalism) and her yoga.....and you could just hear it in her music! There was an ethereal beauty in her work of this era that has stood the test of time beautifully. I want old Madonna back!

That is the epitome of Madonna quotes, “I don’t work out anymore; I do yoga!” After doing yoga since 2013, anywhere from 3-7 days a week-and getting a six pack and toned body, and overall chilled mentality-I can safely say that she’s right.

Andrew Lloyd Webber required she take voice lessons for Evita, and you can certainly hear the positive effects of that training in her phrasing in the songs on this album. Although she has never claimed to be a musician, she is without doubt a musician on this album. It's her most perfect album.
@erikm8372 Жыл бұрын
Yeah Evita definitely changed her voice for the better. Even in her speaking voice. Not to mention yoga, and the core engagement and the breathing, can have a bunch of positive effects on the voice.

She was a good live singer during this period. She had a voice coach. This performance however was a stunningly well done lip sync, complete with an orchestra and synth player who looked like they were playing. She did a really good live of Ray of Light on Oprah around then- same idea but she sang live on a hot Mic with herself on the album. Easier for Tv I guess.
@erikm8372 Жыл бұрын
I think Oprah demands her guests to sing live, and when they haven’t, she shades them subtly. Example: Mariah Carey in 1997, singing the VERY difficult (and emotional) song ‘Butterfly’. She was admittedly sick, and sounded hoarse from traveling, so not in the best vocal condition. The only live parts were the first verse and the final line of the song. And they were audibly cracky and hoarse. Somehow the rest of the performance was A+ perfection. And very uncannily similar to the album… Oprah looked suspicious the entire performance. Then as they went to commercial after the song, Oprah says, “…and that’s the new CD. And we’ll be right back.”

You’re not wrong. Now, every 17 year-old is drinking a soy latté w a double shot-té. And literally 15% of all cars in West Hollywood are mini coopers. Ahead of the curve, for sure. The message lost in our blind indulgences. She doesn’t seem to care either way, which I get - it’s an ever turning world.

Madonna a l'air si joueuse. En France, elle paraîssait toujours sérieuse voire hautaine quand elle daignait apparaître dans un show.
@MrTiggerr84 Жыл бұрын
That's because when she was there in 78 to 80 they treated her snobby in France
@erikm8372 Жыл бұрын

Ok, so she hadn’t actually married Guy or gone to LIVE in England full-time until 2000, but she’d absolutely been there-multiple times-by this point… 1998 is nearly 20 years into her career… by that time, she’d done several multi-show sellout runs at Wembley Arena & Wembley Stadium, as well as concerts in Leeds, countless promotional appearances, talk shows, etc.

This was madonna's best era, and I think she looked so great here. Was she like 40 here? I think it's sad how she looks now. She like completely changed her face w botox and fillers and just keeps trying to be "cool" and "relevant" at 65. What's the point when u were famous and the "it girl" for so long? I think some celebs literally get addicted to it and can't not be relevant somehow, even though they all complain about fame and how hard it is ...
