Yes - thus demo was used in the film ! I even remember this version played on the radio in 1985! Z100 and HOT 105! Love that YEAR!

Her record company decided not to release this song because she had 2 songs in the top 10 already Material Girl and Crazy for you. They were afraid of over exposure at the time. It was released in England as a single in England where it went to #1. Apon rerelease of her Like Virgin CD it was added. Btw the song had been written yrs before The director asked Madonna to write a song for the movie. So she gave her the demo for INTO THE GROOVE.

Million times better then the full release. I remember hearing this in the movie and wanting this version. Most people dont even notice the difference. This one sounds alot more basic and pretty much unfinished but i think it still better as its more raw. Gaga aint got shit on mad !

@VinylSamuraisMusic6 жыл бұрын
Andrew Harland Demo is in the movie yeah. I expect like most things it was made and not expected to be such a giant hit then came out as a single. They must’ve finished it after the movie come out Crazy hey! Sometimes wish this was the version I could get though cos it’s so much better. More raw and hard hitting

Yes - the demo was used in the film as the finished track had not yet been completed.
@deepconnection11693 жыл бұрын
It’s true. This was used in the film and then remixed by Stephan Bray, then Jellybean Benitez put the “finishing touches” on it. Although her vocals seem a bit louder in this demo than what they used in the actual film. So, they probably did polish it up a bit.
@deepconnection11693 жыл бұрын
Also, this was an unexpected hit for her with the film as a vehicle that ended up promoting it. Sire records was not prepared for that, and as a result this song was never released as a single, therefore never entering the Billboard hot 100 chart. However, it did reach number one on billboards dance charts. It was also repressed on the first track of the B-side of the vinyl of the 'Like A Virgin' album when more copies were ordered after it’s sold out in succession. It was available in the United States as the B-side to the 12 inch remix of angel. Never on a 45 RPM 7 inch. In Europe, it was released as a 12" single, the A side being the same version played on radio and appearing on the B side to the 12" of "Angel". If you ask me, Warner Bros. dropped the ball on this one. This could’ve easily been a Top 40 number one song as it was all over the radio, and in clubs that summer. So much so was it's popularity, that "Hot Tracks" (a DJ remix service) produced an extended remix of it for DJ's to play in clubs. I was the first to upload this obscure, and rare version of "Into The Groove": kzbin.info/www/bejne/nGiTmamPqZWDhac

this is not a demo it was used in the scene wheres she meets Gary-the tub salesman at the club into.Actually "Into The Groove" was intended for the movie Vision Quest which was sung in the bar scene in the movie but was cut they chose Gambler instead because it catered to the style of the movie

I disagree, I think this version sounds too cheap and tacky. The finished version feels more authentic and 80s
@FoxyChariot3 жыл бұрын
It sounds tacky because this was probably recorded on a 4/8 track. You couldn’t get professional sounding demos on cheap gear like you could now. This was laid down purely for reference It does have a particular lofi charm to it but that’s only because we’ve come to appreciate that unfinished quality. That would just be seen as amateurish back then

Not everything has to be "professionally" done to be better. We've missed out on so much greatness by caring too much about a certain look or a certain sound. The demo version of Square Dance Rap and Roxanne's Revenge will always be 10x better than the professionally recorded studio versions.

This is a demo, the director liked it and used it. The record company followed up with the more polished, radio friendly mix very soon after. It was released as the B side of the single 'Angel', and got as much if not more airplay than the actual single did. It was listed in the charts as 'Angel', because that was the official single off of the 'Like a virgin' album. 'Into the groove' never was included on the album.
