is it just me or is this version the best version 'Ive ever heard!!!!???The end rocks!!! God I stil, remeber March 1989 when I bought the vinyl album, it smelled of Patchouli and had the facts about AIDS leaflet inside. My hands were shaking when I put it on the record player! The excitement!!!!

Gosh I understand you, I had bought the little cassette and it smelled of patchouli but I wasn't yet a big fan yet, I had the shivers when I bought "Ray of light" in 98. But I still listen to the "Like a prayer" album today in my car, it's soooo powerful, and I'll always remember the smell of patchouli, it was such a thing!! Everyone talked about it ! ⭐️🌈😘

omg, your comment reminded me of the same feeling, i was 13 when this record came out, I had some money saved and bought the vinyl in a small record store in Corona Queens, rushed home and played it all afternoon, my mom and sister had enough of Madonna, I knew then I´ll be in love with her for ever.

Prince's guitar work for this album can clearly be heard on the final track "Act of Contrition", and of course the electric guitar used in "Like A Prayer" for the Album Version. This is an early cut and does not have the Prince guitar, but check out the video/album version and you'll hear it clear as day.

Goliath sparrow Her song "Music?" Not so much, her voice has matured since then. Here it was beginning to reach it's prime & her vocals had a lot of power compared to what she's doing now. I know she's older, but she may need to slow it down a bit & go back to ballads. I thought she always did so well with those. :-)

This is not an early version, it's an edit made for radios - at least in Europe where it was aired during that era. I always preferred this version to the album's one, it's more punchy, and the final with the guitar riff makes it even more intense.

I heard this song the year before it came out remember teacher saying she didn't know it wanted to sing in a talent show I didn't realize I was hearing things .nothing seemed off to me at the time . I was in one town when I heard it by time it came out I'd moved twiced .I was tweleve by then my life was changing big time those days . I've always been fan if maddona so talented and music was my friend growing up . Question I have why would I had such a preminirion.

I believe it is an early version. Producers/artist do stuff like this all the time to get an idea of how they want the (original song) to sound. No artist out there just makes a song right off the bat and says, "this is it!" They tend to tinker around with it, before serious recordings happen for mass production. It sounds like this was the (fit model) of how the later radio cut version which is the 7inch with/without fade came after, then the album version, then immaculate collection & such. :-)
