This song was recorded before her divorce, but performed live during. So in the music videos you can’t see her finishing some verses because she changed the lyrics in the live concert and they didn’t match the album version of the song! Big hugs from Brazil, girls!

Also it’s a good point you make about her going through something rough and having to perform might after night. We saw her breaking down in Udine, Italy. It was the first concert she did after her stage collapsed in Marseille, France, killing two of the people assembling it. She wasn’t harmed, it happened during the assembling process. She attended the funeral of one of the men who died and gave support to his family and also visited some other people who were injured. By the time she got to Italy we could clearly see she was wrecked, but had to perform anyway.

this song is clearly about her marriage with guy ritchie falling apart they werent divorced yet when it was recorded but its clear things were already heading to an end. It's probably one of her saddest melancholic songs ever despite sounding so upbeat. There's a few more songs about Guy to come that are also just as sad and underrated (devil wouldn't recognize you, best friend, love spent etc). This is something a lot of fans usually dont admit but the messiness and bitterness of the divorce (and it costed her a fortune) clearly did damage her and she dramatically changed afterwards in the following years like she was never the same again which isn't necessarily all bad but it's an observation that any big fan can make and notice. The transformation from songs like I deserve it ("this Guy was meant for me and I was meant for him") to Miles Away 8 years later 😢 Glad u loved the song as much as I do ❤

Agree with you both, it’s a beautiful song about long distance relationships that we can all relate to specially for people who travel a lot like Madonna. In the last 40 years of her career, she’s performed in: 12 concert tours, 19 one-off concerts, 9 benefit concerts, 7 music festivals, many awards/guest shows, produced over 80 music videos many of which involved filming on location. Amazingly, she has visited/performed in 6 of the 7 continents except Antarctica. Her trips to Africa were connected to her humanitarian charitable work in Malawi. Yet despite all the physical distance in between her tours, she has gained a base of loyal, ardent fan base. She has bridged this gap with her memorable concerts/performances, music videos, films and discography. You’ll see this passionate fandom in the Sticky&Sweet tour concert she filmed in Buenos Aires in December of 2008-only her second in this city since her 1993 Girlie Show Tour, followed in February of 1996 when she returned to film Evita-an absence of almost 13 years which she’d acknowledged during her performance there. Several songs on Hard Candy point to cracks in the marriage. The divorce was announced during the Sticky & Sweet Tour. But the MDNA album is officially the divorce album. She;s pissed on that album. Especially due to the lack of a prenup,….Besides these 3 singles There are 5 Hard Candy tracks performed on Sticky & Sweet Tour. Will you be reacting to them first? I'm happy to see you like the song, it's the song that I heard in the shopping mall and eventually got me to Madonna 😃I know the production might sound kind of dated now, but I'd want to hear more from the trio Madonna/Timbaland/Timberlake, because there's been an emotion to the songs (Miles Away, Devil Wouldn't Recognize You, Voices, even Dance 2Night and 4 Minutes to some extent) and the harmonies with Justin just work very well. That's why I like this side of Hard Candy more, it's more emotional and harmonizing than Pharrell's songs that are more club oriented.

"Beat goes on" was previewed.... but "give it to me" was less successfull than "4 minutes" so WB choose "miles away" because of the production....
