Hey. Must say your videos are a very entertaining watch! Great to see your reactions. Have you listened to Sophie Ellis-Bextor by the way? She's wonderful...like an English rose 😊

I love “I Want You” and I feel like most people don’t t even know it exists sadly.

It’s funny you don’t like “I want you”. It’s a fan favourite. I remember how confused I was with the video, but after a couple of views I just fell in love with it. If you’re not planning to watch Evita, please also check “ I’d be surprisingly good for you”. It’s a gorgeous song and I’m sure you’ll love it.

She was in the early stages of pregnancy with Lola in the Love Don’t Live Here Anymore vid. Love that it’s a slow burn, one-shot video. The Something to Remember served as an audition tool of sorts for Evita due to the ballads and songs showcasing her singing

The video for Love Don't Live Here Anymore was shot in a day off Madonna had during the shooting of Evita. Madonna herself said that filming this video was hard because she found it difficult to focus on the music video which required for her to step out of the character Evita and she was already embodied in that character. She found it hard to concentrate filming this video. It was shot at Buenos Aires at an old building which used to be a candy factory. In regards of the I Want You video, now that I rewatched it, I noticed that the more the eyelash sank in the glass the less anxious Madonna was in regards of waiting for the phone call. Taking that into consideration, and this is just my opinion, I think that the glass with the eye lash sinking inside of it is a metaphor for Madonna's situation in regards of her loved one. She finally hung up on him when the eyelash sank right to the bottom. However, as I said before, it is just my interpretation. I could be wrong.

To answer your question, Madonna had moved past her Bedtime Stories era at this point in the public eye. While every artist has ebbs and flows to their success, this period for Madonna was neutral - or, a push. Over the course of the next couple of years, Madonna took singing lessons, starred in Evita and Lourdes was born. On the world stage, the death of Diana, Princess of Wales and the murder of Gianni Versace left an indelible print on the psyche. Her biggest challenge at this point was soon to come - her 40th birthday in 1998. Would she remain relevant? Her response, of course, was the critically acclaimed 'Ray of Light' which took her career to even higher heights. It was at this point that fans were able to see Madonna in a new light (new mother, new music).

I was just gonna say, it's a cover not a Madonna original song. He needs to listen the original to compare. I love what Massive attack and Madonna did with this song.

I Want You was to be Something To Remember's first single. Legal issues put paid to that. Madonna was still looking to soften her post Erotica image and released Something To Remember to remind people of the preeminent thing Madonna does best, Music.

Not two of her most exciting videos as you said. I Want You is about suicide I think. She made the video for LDLHA on a day off while she was making Evita and she may have been pregnant with Lola.

I never cared for her straining on "Love Don't Live Here".

I Want You is one of M's best songs and video. That is all. I've never really cared much for the LDLHA video. Kind of boring and weird framerate. Also the location is kind of tacky. Definitely my least favorite Mondino video. To answer your other question, M had a series of huge hits after Erotica ("I'll Remember," "Secret," and "Take a Bow") so she'd definitely moved past it by this point. Not everything she released was a smash like in the pre-Erotica days, but that probably had more to do with just changing trends and new/younger artists coming along. The public and critics mostly embraced her from the mid 90s through the early 2000s.
