After seeing this in 2021, I honestly can’t imagine any other pop star being this legendary, political and unapologetic. Madonna’s status is above any other entertainer, this woman changed pop culture in a whole new way, she’s the greatest artist of the last century.

@Denis Ambrozhevichyus Well, I would say Prince was the male version of her or vice versa. Don't get it twisted, I'm a fan of both artist, I'm just saying, being a teenager (Gen X) in the "80s" I notice both Madonna and Prince took chances, didn't give a f%ck and change the game in the music industry in general. In other words like someone has already stated, they were "political and unapologetic" in making a statement in their music, when during the President Regan/conservative area, it was unpopular or consider very controversial for an artist to do so. I give props to both legends, Madonna and Prince who stayed true to themselves, didn't compromise their art, gave the middle finger to the so-called "Conservative Movement" in the 80s, saw through the movement's BS and hypocrisy.

Four words that tells you why she's one of a kind in show business. There may be better vocal performers, there may be better dancers, there may be better musicians, composers, lyricists than her..... But no one delivers such smart, ironic , sarcastic, unapologetic lines this fast in a interview, on nation wide TV.... Long Live the Queen!

The key factor here is that she truly believes in everything she is saying. She gives an eloquent, passionate response to every question because she is speaking from the heart. There's nothing phoney about it. She was able to stand by her art and defend it articulately because it was authentic. She has always been a pioneer, to this day. When Katy and Gaga and Miley are still rocking out in their 60s they'll be able to express their own sexuality freely, with minimal flack from the public because by then it will be normalised. And they can thank Madonna for enduring the ageism and misogyny she's having to face every day, so that the next generation will have it easier. Bless the Madonna 🙇‍♂️

This was in a time, was censorship was very heavy in the 90s, yet Madonna still pushed down walls for female artists, she has been been denigrated in the 80s,90s,2000, and 2010, yet she still carried on, the great thing about this, is that she released this, and it was the first ever video single released, again, another first by Madonna

What I love most about this is that she doesn't back up ONCE. She has so much certainty and belief on what she is saying, the "responsible" part is my favourite, when the guy implies that people think she is irresponsible for "having sex in front of children" and then she states FACTS! She indeed deals with sexuality a lot, but promotes safe sex, only show consensual sex, talks about birth control, etc. Is not just sex for sex, is information, she IS responsible. But in the end kids are PARENTS' responsabilities. She is not pushing boundaries just to push them, she wants children to have conversations with parents and honestly, this couldn't be more current. Nowadays there's such a fuss about sexual education and how parents are responsible for talking about sex with their sons and daughters, BUT THEY DON'T! IT'S STILL A TABOO! So having a gateway to this conversation could be easier. OMG how much I love this woman....... She is so smart and so special. Trying to break a lot of current taboos 30 years ago...

The sexuality that didn't follow heteronormativity and showed women empowered wasn't okay, but all other forms of media that's potentially harmful to a young viewer (degradation, violence, and straight male sexuality) is okay to go. Madonna's unyielding defiance against societal expectations has long been a testament to her resilience in the face of relentless scrutiny and criticism. From the outset of her career, she boldly asserted control over her body and sexuality, a move that immediately made her a target for detractors. Despite predictions of her fleeting success as a mere "one-hit wonder" dating back to 1982, Madonna's unwavering determination and undeniable talent have only served to further incense her critics, who have lazily resorted to vilifying her as a convenient scapegoat. In this interview, the hypocrisy of such criticism was starkly exposed, particularly through the selective and judgmental line of questioning employed by outlets catering to conservative sensibilities, such as Nightline. By attempting to shame Madonna for not conforming to traditional roles of motherhood and wholesome behavior, these interrogators revealed their own biases and expectations, primarily dictated by patriarchal norms. What emerged from this exchange was not merely Madonna's quick-witted responses, but rather her steadfast refusal to apologize for who she is or compromise her artistic integrity and autonomy. Her unwavering stance against the attempts to belittle and constrain her serves as a powerful rebuke to the double standards and hypocrisy that continue to plague society. Furthermore, it's worth acknowledging the collaborative efforts of artists like Lenny Kravitz, whose songwriting contributions, though initially unrelated to Madonna, nonetheless resonated deeply with her ethos. Kravitz's recognition of Madonna's embodiment of the song's themes underscores the pervasive understanding of her cultural impact, transcending mere expectations and stereotypes. In essence, Madonna's resilience and refusal to be boxed into societal norms serve as a beacon of empowerment for all who dare to challenge the status quo, reminding us that true liberation lies in embracing one's authentic self, regardless of the backlash it may provoke.
