Don't forget about Marius De Vries who she had worked with on the Bedtime Stories album. Patrick Leonard and Rick Knowles as she co wrote with them before deciding to meet and ultimately work with William Orbit. Craig Armstrong should also get a shout out for his work in creating those beautiful strings that feature heavily through some of the tracks. This track TPOG is an amazing example of CA strings being used by M and WO to great effect. ❤❤

This is the middle song in a trilogy on the Ray of Light album, beginning with Frozen and ending with To Have and Not to Hold. The lyrics are amazingly simple but her most brilliant since Live To Tell, and that's a pre ER Goran Visnjic, who was 25 to Madonna's (almost) 40 when they shot this.

Great reaction! A masterpiece, I mean how can you not love beautiful, melancholic electronica! Her work with William Orbit is definitely some of her best. And the lyrics work on many layers, spiritual, emotional, relationship. A fun interpretation to try on from the video, is that the song is from his point of view. That it's he who wants to say goodbye, but he struggles. Even as an older man, she must set out into the ocean. Another interpretation is her saying goodbye to being a seductress. The siren of the sea must drown.

Really beautiful ballad from her milestone 1998 ROL era. So many hits from this album. The video is haunting, she looked ravishing with those piercing soulful eyes. The beach walk at sunset by the sea evoked a sense of the character thinking of suicide as her sandals were shown being washed away by the waves. Terrific album, awesome song! I believe this album is peak Madonna, after an incredible lead up in her career, with great songs throughout. This song helped me heal, a few years after my nine year marriage, and subsequent breakup, left me utterly devastated. Songs can help, in that way. This one sure did. I have a long Madonna playlist, right beside my Yes, Rush, Pink Floyd, and Led Zeppelin, etc., playlists. ❤✌
