1 - PERFECT choreography; 2 - absolutely amazing costumes -- not just for madonna but all of the dancers/characters; 3 - the diversity among her dance crew: we have asian, latino, black, probably all (or most) gay men bringing the ballroom/vogue scene to one of the most important stages in pop music; 4 - referencing marie antoinette, the queen of opulence, carelessness and youthness; 5 - not being afraid of sexuality and being playful and tongue-in-cheek about it; 6 - madonna at one of her peaks of beauty and influence; 7 - the amazing exit with her becoming the one who watches the audience; 8 - nikki and donna nailing every step of the way; 9 - the theatrical feel of the whole performance: this is not supposed to look like a music video or a pop concert -- this is musical theater, camp, broadway. 10 - how everyone on stage not only has a chance to shine but is also there for a REASON. all of them actuallycontribute to the storytelling of the piece. 11 - the fact that all of this was done in 1990, when she was one of the fery few artists who pushed the boundaries between pop music, sex and art. this performance is one of the many reasons why she's the GOAT in pop music. loved this since i was a kid and will love it forever.

It's incredible how this woman is far away forward her time. The Fans and the Haters don't get her at all. Everybody talking about lip syncing and no one understands what she's doing there. She wanted to do a new Video for Vogue. A live video in one take, without editing. It was the first time someone tried to do that. The performance was used like a "single" for her video collections and. A celebration of MTV and Madonna's Career. That was a perfect performance, but was not meant to be a live show, it was meant to be a dancing painting in form of a live video. That's so fucking crazy and amazing. She was at the highest top of her game.

in the Balls of NYC (where vogueing came from}, lip syncing is what the performers did. The dancing and attire were the attraction. This performance follows that tradition. New outfits for the next themed Ball. Pose the tv show is a look into that scene and era. It is an excellent show. They should be starting a new season soon.

The best thing is taking a popular song (and video for the 90s) at an awards show to create an original performance with original costuming and semi reminiscent choreography of the music video amd make a one of a kind performance. This wasn't recreated. This was original. And that is what makes Madonna part an icon in the last 40 years of music, video, dance, and persona.

The execution of this ambitious performance was impeccable. Everyone was so on their game. Just the flipping of the fans can you imagine if one of them had fumbled? But nobody did. Right to the end where the chaise lounge is right where it needs to be and she sits with everyone angled in close to their queen , just a perfect, fun, tongue in cheek, professional, and elegant performance.

I read somewhere that the clapping after the fans were tossed was a real clap, because apparently the ladies were not good at catching them during rehearsal. :)

That look on her face at 4:28 - she literally knows at that moment that she is cementing her place as the undefeated Queen of Pop. YAAASSSSSS

Joseph Fellows-Cameron she knows she's good, how could she even pretend to be humble?
@laprimaverrra4 жыл бұрын
She knew it long before that. Perhaps not in the sense that someone can "objectively" realise they are setting a precedent that will be undefeated for decades to come. But she was certainly determined to rule the world - and made it reality. That is the power of Madonna.
I would call it the definitive iconic performance for Madonna. It’s my favorite song and performance.

This is the greatest choreographed live performance of all time. Raunchy and elegant at the same time. Artistic and comedic. I can't think of a greater act that I have seen on stage. No one has been able to pull it off since.

Considering the choreography, creativity and poise she displayed... I think it's almost insulting to say she looked 'hot' here, but damn, did she ever🥰

From the start she pushed the envelope on our culture's ideas of what sexuality should be. She opened the doors for women to be open about liking sex, closed the door on slut-shaming, said lets explore homosexuality even if you're straight, and said what's the big deal about being yourself? Sex is GOOD, NOT shameful!! She was controversial then so we can push the envelope today. Love her forever.

I don't know. I tend to feel her obliteration of the feminists like #Dworkin who reacted to their own sexual trauma more negatively was probably not a good thing.

@@almabetancur6065 There is no question the sex positive feminists have won the debate for now. Madonna had her part to play in that. But there was a whole group of #antiporn feminists like #CatherineMackinnon & #RobinMorgan.

This performance set a new standard that night. As a gay person, it was pretty much the first performance I can remember where gay people were held up as beautiful, magical. Lesbian visibility in mainstream media didn't really hit until a few years later, but I remember watching this that night, feeling a kinship with my brothers and feeling like "Yes. This is how beautiful we are. We are magnificent."
