This was her most brilliant era. “Ray of Light” has everything that most albums nowadays don't have: soul, spirit, mystery -and talent, of course.

Felipe Cárdenas Totally agree. It was as well received by her fans as it was by the critics. I miss when she made music like this. Her work in recent years has felt very soulless. Something just doesn’t resonate.

Daddy ya "Drowned World" was her most autobiographical song ever, it's a genius recording! I probably walked away if I was her after "What It Feels Like For A Girl". And left us with a better video for it, and the album version instead of that remix... Music Industry became completely demonic, and she participated in that part. It was always wicked, but after 911, it was time bolt for the door!!!
@so7iane886 жыл бұрын
mikebtko unfortunately,but at least we still have her amazing music (records...)
@mikebtko6 жыл бұрын
Daddy ya I always thought a lot of her tracks could've been stripped a bit more. Like Stevie Nicks, Madonna had that 80's overly produced sound, even 90's before "Bedtimes Stories" album. Like "Rain" sounded beautiful, stripped down, like this guy did for her song... kzbin.info/www/bejne/kKDFkHtqa6qkgKc

Madonna has made it clear that she don´t want to do the same album twice. As she herself has said that before. I would love to see her experiment more with her music and to not make commercial pop music. She does not need a hit single to secure her place in music history, as she is the best selling female artist with over 300 million albums sold worldwide. If she experimented with her music, even more people will see what an amazing artist she is. :)

In my mind, this Era was the peak & pinicle of madonna's Amazing Reign...I really wanted it to go on till 2002. Music hit could have been a soundtrack song & 'American life' could have been half an album confined with 'music' b4 CODF. Then the best of 'MDNA' could have been a 2010 album combined with 50% of HardCandy. 'REBEL HEART & Madame X' the two Great albums of the past Decade. ✅

I think Madonna is the same talented singer/artist who can make albums as great as this one forever, but it certanly demostrates that she worked very hard and minuciosly developing this masterpiece over the years, listening great music, working with great producers, mixing up all kind of musical instruments and sounds, taking risks, having well trained her voice, reading so much about kabbalah, conceptualizing the whole project, musically and visually, Evita as a movie, Ray of light as a record, it was her highest point and then Drowned World Tour her most creative tour. Over the years she kept doing great works as Music Album, American Life and Confessions on a dance floor, her Reinvention Tour, but she began to slow donw her commitment as a creative producer . It doesn´t mean she hasn't done great things past 17 years, but making another masterpiece requires a lot of work

Abraham Aghenor Polanco Except for the fact that Madonna never repeats herself (for the albums)
@abrahamaghenorpolanco35206 жыл бұрын
I didn´t said that she have to repeat herself. I mean like a new era just as emotional, vanguard, cultural, deep and futuristic as ray of light one. And actually, I think madonna does repeat sometimes certains ideas.
@MadonnaMusic16 жыл бұрын
Abraham Aghenor Polanco Ah,so you didn't mean a Ray Of Light 2.0 .Ok i'm sorry. Well,Music another great reinvention and an original album though not a good album as Ray Of Light in my opinion.Then we had 2003's American Life,but you don't seem to be a fan of it,at least seem to be.It wasn't as emotional,but it had a lot of emotional songs(Nothing Fails,Intervention,Easy Ride,Love Profusion and Mother And Father)and the amount of anger in American Life and Hollywood is very high. Futuristic? Yes. Deep?Yes. Cultural? Well,the message is pretty deep. Vanguard? It was way less successful than Ray Of Light,so obviously not.Then considering the backlash sorrounding the title track and Hollywood especially in the US... Then we had 2005's Confessions On A Dancefloor, vanguard and futuristic(though looking back to the past,to 1970's/80's Disco)but not as emotional and deep,although it has some deep and interesting lyrics,especially Isaac,Like It Or Not,Push,How High,Etc... Then we had the mediocre Hard Candy and MDNA though they had some good songs and the solid Rebel Heart.She may repeat,but always in a different way.Every album is different from each other.Girl Gone Wild may be similar to Celebration for the sound,but MDNA is completely different from Hard Candy for example.Not to mention her image,good or bad,is almost never the same.Confessions On A Dancefloor resumes in some way her dance output of the 80's,but in a different way and referencing also to disco and to other artists,with samples and paying omage. Just think about how Like A Virgin(1984),True Blue(1986)and Like A Prayer(1989)are different one from each other,or Like A Prayer from Erotica(1992)and Bedtime Stories(1994),or Ray Of Light from Music(2000)and American Life(2003).It's astonishing.Then compare it to the difference between Thriller and Bad,or Bad and Dangerous,or Dangerous and History:Past Present and Future
@sesnuev6 жыл бұрын
And what resumes The Next Best Thing balad for example? :-)
@NocturneSoul5 жыл бұрын
I know what you mean. You´re talking about an album with deep personal lyrics, with rich sound and content, a serious artistic, not pretending to be a pop star for the younger listeners, an album different from albums like Hard Candy for example. But you know, she´s recording a song with Maluma, so I guess that´s not the direction she´s going.
@gonzaloarvietti49206 жыл бұрын
I think she is there now in 2018 but she feel so much pressure, and she dont need to try fit in the new youth, its ridiculous she is more than any artist nowaday, but now is like childish, immature, and try so hard to be bad. that sad.
@TheFlush19805 жыл бұрын
Gonzalo Arvietti I agree with you, I am curious what would happen if she made an album strictly for herself, without trying to stay relevant in the music world. When she simply does what she wants. I bet she can create magic.

@Zach Zach stop saying wake up. That’s annoying. Madame X is indeed made for radio- working with Malika, crave lee and Anita are purely to get streams.
