This performance was a real highlight of the “Celebration Tour”. Her previous performances of “Live To Tell” on earlier tours were always spectacular and moving, but this particular performance took the song to another emotional level. I saw the show twice in LA and was moved to tears, not only bc “Live To Tell” is my favorite song of Madonna’s but the tribute to her dear friends, colleagues and the lovely men and women who have passed from AIDS was beautifully done with grace and humanity. Madonna has been a longtime philanthropist of AIDS research since the beginning of her career and continues to do so to this day. This edit of the performance was well put together. May those who are no longer with us physically continue to shine on forever ❤

I was in New York City , January 23 , 2024 second show at Madison Square Garden . She made a very touching speech talking about the Aids pandemic in the early 80's in NYC : she said she visited St Vincent's hospital and there were no visitors because people were afraid because they did not how to get the disease , people were scared : but there were two nurses in the front line , AMAZING WOMEN , HEROS . Nurses were the real heros ... She also said , she held the hand of a young man who was in another place , he was not conscious anymore and he said to her : MOTHER THANK YOU FOR COMING

For those who were not there... this moment was insane. The sound of this song came through your body and shaked us. M took us on a journey to remember those who left us too soon while she was also in a nostalgic trance to see their faces again. For almost 100 days she kept bringing them to a present day. M is a class on her own, truly a Master Class. No one will or can take her place in stardom. Not now, not never. 👑❤
@tmm6884Күн бұрын
@@samripr your comment is pitch perfect insofar as M and her decadent performance that, at least for me, let my fully open my diaphragm, ribs, chest and heart to the silent grief amongst the audience, and breathe M's auditory legacy wash over me. However, it was the bringing of those M has lost into the present and future that is still resplendent.

Madonna, I remember. I was still a teenager then, watching the 1990 Blond Ambition Tour on TV. Keith Haring had just died, but you had to go to the concert. Before every concert you always formed a circle with the band members and prayed. That day you prayed for Keith Haring and I could see that you were very sad. I remembered that for a long time, and this video reminded me of that. Thank you for always being on everyone's side.

@tmm68842 күн бұрын
@Patrick3183 I moved to NYC in 1990 to attend ABT's Pre-profesional ballet training division when 13. I went on to Julliard at 16. I went Profesional at 18. Those first 5 years were hard for me, but the gay male community took me in. I joined ACT UP at 16 and my whole life changed. I grew up on a small reservation in SW Oklahoma. I was always loud and opinionated, I came out really young to a family that really didn't care, in a good way. So, I just wanted to heal the wounds of everyone who didn't have that experience. HIV and AIDS took over my life like a hurricane. Whether dance colleagues or friends, I was losing friends every month, like so many other lesbians. We lived while our families disappeared. All that to say that I'm 47.
