My first results looked exactly like this. The dudes on the Telegram had me change my bitrate from the default 4096mbps to 5120 or 6144. This did the trick. What's basically happening is that you're trying to push a nice looking image through a low bitrate, which is like trying to push tons of water through a very small pipe. The breakup you're getting isn't actually breakup in the RF sense, it's you not having enough bandwidth enabled for what you're trying to do. I did a test of the before/after and put up the DVR you want to check it out.

If I'm not mistaken the difference in latency between walksnail goggles and walksnail VRX is the latency introduced via hdmi out. I remember Carl stating the hdmi input latency on the hdz goggles was 1 to 3ms. So knowing this would the latency on ipc be comparable to their VRX and not the goggles? Great video by the way!!!

By the way: they've already changed the orientation of this wifi module in Runcam and now the micro SD card slot is at the bottom, easily accessible, and the heating element of the wifi module has thermally conductive foam stuck to it and is cooled from the top by this fan. It was probably designed that way from the beginning, only the manufacturer mixed something up and put it together incorrectly.

Hi Ian, Thank you very much for such a detailed introduction to the subject. Really great. I have a huge request for you to make a tutorial on how exactly, step by step, with uploading the appropriate software and links to it, if necessary, how did you make this ground station for analog goggles? I have also already bought Runcam wifilink with wifilink-G and Radxa Zero 3W 1GB/8GB eMMC, but for now I don't know how to convert my analog FPV goggles to OpenIPC, and what you showed is very interesting and uses, as I understand it, this wifilink-G from the Runcam camera set. For now, making a groundstation from wifi modules (RTL 8812au or 8812eu-2) is not clear and encounters a lot of problems. However, I would also like to go in this direction later, because I plan to connect the wifilink-G to my phone (maybe a tablet), because I need to record the image with GPS coordinates somewhere and be able to PLAY them back in the field if the drone falls to find it. And no one has even touched on this topic yet.

Ian, I'm curious about the significance of Majestic being closed source. It's a component in the OpenIPC software stack which seems to play a big role in the software. And it's closed.
@eduardoluisbaptistadeolive85424 ай бұрын
by default yes. but there is a opensource encoder that can be used instead, if your tinfoil hat requires :), is just that majestic works great and at the moment gives the lowest latency
@aracrg4 ай бұрын
@@eduardoluisbaptistadeolive8542 It's not about tinfoil hats, it's about the cover matching the contents. A project can't proclaim itself as open source if an essential component within it is closed source, if replacing that component with something else materially degrades the project.

@@aracrg Stupid semantics! majestic is not really closed source. It's not for public. there are NDAs... And more to the point, if you want to be pedant just because, with no real point, do any open source projects have access to the CPU microcode for example? No. Then nothing is truly open source by your logic as the code is eventually using a CPU and... bla bla . Some people just want to argue for the sake of arguing...
@eduardoluisbaptistadeolive85424 ай бұрын
@@aracrg openIPC is just the firmware. The platform that the fog system is running on, and it is fully open source. The transmission and video are done by wfb_ng( open source) and by majestic( community edition, free but closed source) as default. But FPV is not the only application of openIPC, and at its core it is fully open source. And if the open source encoder is not as fast as majestic right now it is only because apart from keyboard warriors, not enough people are spending their time developing it so that it can become as good as or better than majestic and therefore become the default.
