That connectors are really not designed for handling by non professionals. The mating cycles are probably less than 10 and normally they are used inside an enclosed system and not on a system sold for consumers. In my company we have special tooling for the mating of such connectors to avoid damage. Also ESD damage could easily happen if you touch the bare PCBA without earth connection. Greets from a hardware dev.

That's why there are two drops of glue… (that you removed…) You said in another video, I think, that you had to be careful with the connector and this glue; it's confirmed. But for the money it costs, with the UFL without anything to hold it, the camera that sucks, and no race mode with the light, in short, what's the point? It's better to buy the O4 Pro; it's much more logical. On the other hand, the construction is getting worse and worse. I'm still in V1, and the air unit and the DJI camera are solid against all odds. (I just found 20 cm cables with the back of the DJI camera; the V1s are fine for me; they're way above the analog and are getting cheap.). Also, the Vistas at least have what it takes to hold the connectors; this 4-light model is really quick. Will I ever go to the O4 Pro and the V3 goggles?? I don't think so. I'll wait for new goggles… logical: O4, V4 goggles, without all the defects of the V2/V3... (and not to mention the N3, which is pathetic…)

I assume it's because you removed the glue from the connector in the review (unboxing and teardown) can you reflow it. Maybe it works again.
@MadRC9 күн бұрын
It's broke the pins so it needs replacing. Yes the glue will help but it's a very weak point in the design with the interposer.

@MadRC okay thanks. Its probably a cost driven design. To get a 110.- air unit

there are actualy test pads alongside this connector. what about bring this to some mobile service to solder cable directly?
@changeagent2289 күн бұрын
Its because its a silly double connector. Why didn't they just put the outer connector and its counterpart on the lower board? 🤷♂️

DJI will fix the issue . early days on these 04 units. its wat Dji want to hear so dey can improve on it. nothing new. people panic to mch and start bitching and moaning, dji dis dji that. thanks Madds for bringing it up to our attention. be careful dont remove cable apply hot glue or something

That's why you never buy first realse tech 😅. Man, I really want one of these unit's to but I will wait for bugs to be ironed out. But by , hen 05 will be out 😂😂😂

What actually happens if you only connect the air unit O4 PRO via USB and only update it, thereby skipping activation and binding it to the goggle without activation? Maybe this stupidity happened to me. Until then, what DJI says will happen. namely that not all functions are available. Now I wanted to carry out the activation afterwards. But I only get the error message “Activation failed, please try again”. Well, I've been trying again for 3 days. nothing happens except that a new LOG with 100MB is written to the Air unit every time. Can I reset the air unit to factory settings? Or do I have to send in the hardware just because I didn't follow the order for the firmware? Oh well, what else I have to say. DJI can't help me with that either. There are currently no support staff available for the Air unit :D

I had this exact thing but the camera was overheating so much you could not touch it. Then the board stopped working. They replaced it. I’m testing that one now.
@rubberonasphalt9 күн бұрын
Man, that sucks. Should we be putting a bead of hot glue at the connector then?
@MountFPV9 күн бұрын
No hot glue! E6000. If the camera gets hot then hot glue will soften.
@rubberonasphalt9 күн бұрын
@@MountFPV Yeah that makes sense
@uxphilms7 күн бұрын
Definitely not great, but could you not solder it back together with a hot air gun / resolder station? A bit of flux and hot air should do it … no?

Yes,he cut the glue and didn't seem to mention it.
@MadRC9 күн бұрын
The glue won't help much in a good crash. The point is this is particularly weak point that will pivot as well. I'm highlighting that fact that the interposer will cause issues like this.
@MountFPV9 күн бұрын
@@MadRC If properly mounted and protected it does fine in hard crashes on 1s 65mm. 100's of hard crashes. I am sure it will eventually break in a crash someday. If it does I will just buy another. My 75mm 2s is heavy enough where I can see crashing onto the canopy might flex enough to cause a problem. I wouldnt use lite on anything heavier that 85mm, and just use 04 Pro.

They consistently for the last 8 years have designed failure points into their products (the whole industry) they know from customer complaints that the products break - they want you to replace them rather than spend be willing to spend extra $5 in the design to fix the issues.
