If the syllabus for growing madrones exists, you should post it.

My tree is just about ready to go through its 3rd winter, I'm in Portland and I had really good luck watering it just once a month this summer during the dry season with a 5 gallon bucket that had 3 holes in it so the water comes out gradually. Portland Nursery's advice is water it once a month, unless the top of it looks super red during a heatwave, then during that extreme time you can move to watering once per week and then go back to once a month again when the weather normalizes. I think that was good advice, because my tree seems really healthy now. It really, really hated the crazy 15 F storm that we had last January, a lot of the foliage died but it regenerated really quickly in the spring. Do you guys now how long until it blooms?

Is there any correlation to the tree in regards to it thriving more than the original pine and cedars in my area that got burnt from the recent years fires? Im seeing a lot of Madrones, Manzinitas and particulary broom grow surprisingly faster than other native trees/ plants in the area.. Thank you so much for this video I learned a lot.

answered my own question pretty much i just needed to finish the video.. furthermore i think the property I live on would be a perfect environment to study the rehabilation process for these trees and the sierra nevada native ecology in general.. nobody lived here for a while so everything that grew back after the last fires in 2018-20 hasnt been disturbed really. Up here in Berry Creek, Ca. Thanks again.
