I like how Maresca has encouraged Felix to play in his most optimum position between the lines in the center of the pitch not out wide, he definitely has another gear to go to and if he does he could be the best player in the League. 1. Maresca treated Southampton as a Conference League side and they were. It should have been 8 or 9. 2. For a winger, Noni is a big guy. He is far too strong for most left-backs. One-on-one, he is far too good. To stop him, they must double up on him. 3. Noni is beginning to also play defense. Maresca has already shown his ruthless side. Play his way or sit on the bench. 4. Felix is a wonderful flair player. During his first stint at the club, he did not play defense. Same comment as for Noni. 5. Sancho and Neto were brilliant pickups on the last day of the window. With Felix, they have transformed the moribund left side under Poch into a real force. They have also brought out the best in Cucarella. They are a huge upgrade on Gallagher and Sterling. 6. The coaching of Maresca and his team has clearly improved the players and the team. It is working. With such young, high-caliber players there is a growing sense a high side is now achievable. 7. There has been a big reduction in games missed due to injuries. Has this finally been fixed?

The strange thing is I believe Noni is the better player against the lesser teams. But Neto is a big game player. Noni is more direct, Neto more a playmaker. I’m a Noni fan and see him similar to Jackson with an extremely high ceiling and even more very unpredictable especially for the opposition managers when setting up their teams. He can go inside, outside, chip it in or shoot. He needs to improve that final product obviously, but I back him 100%.

Felix was a massive creative outlet on the lhs. A different type of threat. Making it easier for Palmer. More balance, a different type of outlet. Madeuke dribbling down the rhs touchline and Felix sprinting and spraying passes. Maresca not afraid to try, experiment and develop players: Disasi, Badiashile, Adarabioyo, Gusto, Jorgensen, Veiga, Mudryk, George, Casadei, Guiu, Madueke. Inverted rb or lb. Using players in more than one position - Caicedo, Badiashile, Veiga, Neto, Felix, Adarabioyo, Sancho. We eventually overcame a handicapped Southampton. Too soon for Jorgensen. Bite size pieces. Conference and mid week games. Progress from weaker teams and leagues to stronger ones. Madeuke is going to continue to develop. Maresca not afraid to upset the cart. He will select the best 11 on game day. His starting position is under threat. Neto/Madeuke/Sancho ram. Sancho/Felix/Neto/Mudryk lam.

It's been a while since I last posted here, and during that time, I have been watching how Maresca has been developing this young team. Whereas, I wouldn't agree that 'We've got our Chelsea back', one thing is clear is that Maresca has turned a group of highly individual youngsters into finally playing as a team. This, combined with the unexpected early results from this campaign so far, has also had a tremendous effect of bonding this group together into a tight knit unit. We do still show signs of naivity, but that is expected because these guys are still so young. The Team is definitly moving forward in the right direction. It only remains to be seen, how far we can go this season.

Felix to me isn’t consistent enough. I prefer Nkunku inverting in to become the second 10. Palmer and Nkunku both playmaker and score. Felix can do it, but maybe not as often as the other 2. Clearly the best at receiving with his back turned and in congestion. He is also the best of the 3 off the ball. But end product is crucial.

He is a shadow striker. I class him similar to Lampard output. He will assist and will score goals from arriving off the back of a 9. If you have a Palmer taking main responsibility for playmaking then a top finisher in Nkunku taking up the other 10 spot would be ideal for me. I really like Felix as a player, I simply like Palmer and Nkunku more due to output. Yes I have seen Nkunku set up play many times this season, unfortunately not many get finished off.

Let’s be honest! Nkunku has been disappointing and that’s if we are to be totally honest. His movement are not consistent enough as he mostly moves into traffic instead of out of it. This is why Jackson seems to get more chance to score despite him not been the most clinical in front of goal it is Jackson’s movement that repeatedly put him in scoring positions all the time. Secondly Nkunku has been very lackadaisical in front of goal and hasn’t shown a finishing prowess at any point this season by taking too many touches and trying to do cutbacks when he is through on goal ie Vs Newcastle,Southampton to name a few. He doesn’t know how to press and he’s getting out worked by Jao Felix which in itself is unbelievable to me. Very easy to critique Jackson but let’s all pamper Nkunku who is on 200k a week and was signed for 60million. I like the player a lot especially before he joined but my fear and worry about him is being actualized in front of our eyes. Lack of ruthlessness,aggression,would thrive in a team that plays counter attacking football but I fear for him applying himself especially off the ball in this league. Won’t be fooled by bunch of PK goals vs Noah and other conference league games, Bournemouth goal won’t make me forget why he was signed in the first place and I won’t be fooled by this tapin vs Southampton. If we are going to keep a ridiculous standard for Jackson even in the games Jackson scored we might as well keep the same energy for Nkunku and Felix.
