Then he asks how he became a burden to Him Oh Raghu Rama, you protect the whole universe. Am I a burden to you? (As Koorma, the turtle) You pitied the devatas and rescued them. (As Krishna) You lifted the Govardana mountain to protect the gopikas (cowherds). Oh kind hearted Rama, Is it a burden to you to protect Tyagaraja? In the kriti „Brova bharama‟ - raga Bahudari , Sri Tyagaraja asks whether it is a burden for the Lord -the protector of the Universe - to protect him. This kriti is an ideally suited for the earlier stages of the concert. Dina and karuna rasas are principal emotions. The phrases „p d n s p‟ „p d n , p m‟, „g m p m g p m g s‟ are characteristic phrases in this kriti. Its gave identity to the aga Bahudari. Absence of dhaivata in avarohana gave beautiful effect in this raga. He started the kriti with characteristic phrase, p d n p , m bro-- -va-bha. Mmi is one of the greates ! Also noteworthy to mention T.N.Krishnan's Violin play, what an ease and control and variation he plays. In the 1960 s when there was no TV I used to download MMIyer's concerts from radio to cassette recorder In this particular song I used to admire the swaravistaram "pa nee dha dha "which I used to rewind and replay More than the music Iyer's mannerisms were enjoyable Unfortunately all my audio cassettes were destroyed by an enemy also cassette recorders have become obsolete Now it is a boon to hear his concerts In this download the " Alapanai is missing wherein more of Iyer's. mannerisms would be available thanks

Madurai Mani Iyer used perform concert during the Marghazhi Festival in . Suchindrum The concert will start @ 4.30 PM . The people will from the neighbouring villages will come, and the crowd will be full in front of him amounting to min 1000, and the balance will be spread over the entire four streets of Sunchindrum . The concert will be over by 9.30 in the night . Even the regular procession of the deities will be delayed by half an hour. Happy to say the Akkarai Sisters parents are from this village . Great musician .
