Here's another fun fact. When Jemison was 14 years old she wanted to be a dancer so she auditioned for the lead role of Maria in the Broadway musical West Side Story. She didn't get the part but her audition was so good that she got a role in the production as a backup dancer. Now she has a dance studio in her own home where she has choreographed several shows of Modern Jazz and African Dance.
