First: you were where you needed to be with those kids. Serendipities like that happen all the time. It is good that you are cognizant of the bigger picture. second: Thank you so much for posting these videos. I enjoy them immensely. I have not been able to set up my pottery studio yet and live vicariously through you!! Namaste

Excellent glaze day. I dread glazing as well. In fact I have work that is ready for glazing in my studio. So I'll be tackling that this weekend.

If you hate sponging off the bases have you tried swirling thbase on a wet carpet square? It is so much faster than sponging

Striped buttercup is my favorite as well! I use ladies garden gloves. They come in small size. Perfect for unloading the kiln.

30:40 how do you throw the angled cup and attach the flat base? also how do you do the bottoms of the stackable mugs that have angled bases

Just found you! Loving your channel. I'm a metalsmith/sculpture artist, not a ceramist, but my bestie IS, and I want to know her juju (besties do that kind d of love)! I sure hope you are making and selling a LOT, cuz' your work is really fun. And one kiln load doesn't pay the bills, especially at wholesale (selling in shops). I'm looking at your goods...❤

Double oh, no! I'm glad you can find the happy things even when there is a suck-factor. LOL, psychopath may be a bit harsh, but I agree, glazing is NOT my fave. I will say, though, that once I get into it, it's not as bad as I imagine beforehand. And it's fun to see the pieces come out of the kiln, for sure. But you really shouldn't be sniffing the glaze 🤪. I've been waxing because I am using porcelain and it helps prevent plucking (with alumina in the wax). But when I don't wax, I use a fettling knife to scrape off the excess glaze back into the bucket. It makes the sponging way easier, and stretches the glaze farther. Have you ever tried that? You do have to watch the SG and add water occasionally. Yes, on the spoon tutorial. Enjoyed the vid! Thanks!

I remember someone saying something like "ceramics is just moving mud from here to there and back again on repeat" and I think of that a lot! lol

Loved this vid! It really kept me company AND it was relatable AF. The instant coffee ... (Where I live we call it "miracle coffee", after Nescafé. Coz "ness" means miracle.) Thanks again ❤

Hi mae! Im an avid fan and also an amateur potter. Saw one of your youtube videos that you shared one of your glaze recipes and I was wondering if the chalk glaze in your if here too would have one? I always frack up my white glazes and its close to impossible to achieve this matte finish 😭😭😭

What if there was microfibre cloths that you could stretch over your wheel (elastic around the edges like a shower cap) then spin the wheel and push down the bases to remove the glaze? Maybe I can make one for you to test out and post it over to you haha.

I’m sure you know this already but a medium pile carpet square in a plastic tray with a bit of water is a fast way to clean bottoms. Just rub back and forth once or twice and they’re clean.

Spoons 🥴 I adore handbuilt spoons and have made a set at my pottery class much to my teachers dismay. 😧 she said they just break. Eventually. Is there any way to make stronger spoons that won’t go clink clink clank…when stirring a cup of tea? 🥴

London attitude sometimes really sucks. One week I was knocked off my bike three times - two of those were deliberate and the other was a bus that didn't even notice. Only once did anyone come to see if I was ok. Sad lack of basic care for fellow humans. Oh yeah, I don't mind glazing now - headphones on, podcast I like and before I know it. it's done.

@@sandykerr60s omg mate I’m so sorry to hear this. I hope you were ok, even if you were it’s still nice to feel cared for and part of a community 💔 I really notice how insular people are here when I go back to nz and everyone is warm and friendly. I’ve become so accustomed to an unfriendly city, it’s awful!
