Maestro Teddy Abrams, the Louisville Orchestra's rock star

At 32, Teddy Abrams is the youngest conductor of a major orchestra in the United States, and he's done what most orchestras are desperate to do: increased the audience, young and old. Martha Teichner reports.

I grew up going to the Louisville Orchestra. At the time it was considered perhaps the premier smaller orchestra in the country. It's true, they commissioned and performed New Music as well as other more challenging (and less common) pieces. In the 1960s and '70s, the Orchestra, the Ballet, and Actor's Theater were renowned around the country. I am SO glad to see that it is on an upswing again, although I realize that this was pre-pandemic.

Louisville has always had a terrific, top rate orchestra! Jorge Mester was world renown conductor of the orchestra, and in fact brought the orchestra premiered works, commissioned from composers around the world. Teddy is a treasure!
