Furthermore if we’re talking about this specific track, I don’t think she wrote it. I know she wrote for all the other tracks on her Habits album with a few other writers but not this track. This had like Trevor Brown and Zaire Koalo from The Orphanage writing on it. And they’re great writers too, they’ve written for Lizzo, Demi Lovato, Sabrina Carpenter etc… I find people become over critical with smaller up and coming artists because there’s this idea that being a smaller artist equates to being “not as good” at certain aspects of the craft which is entirely untrue. It’s very seldom that you find ONE writer on songs these days and I find it unfair that people will sometimes subconsciously judge the quality of an artist’s songwriting based on how big they are as an artist. You’ll likely find the same people calling certain songs or artists trash, would be praising those same songs for their “unique writing qualities” had they been performed by a bigger artist. That’s just my take 🙌🏾.
