@michaelovitch I've got a single mic and when I replay and post, I get sound out of both speakers, which is not a problem. But for this video, wearing headsets means you only hear sound out of one ear. Can you offer any suggestion as to how Duane can get sound out of both sides? One of the clips in this video had the sound reversed to the opposite speaker, and he's posted some clips that are fine. Is this a processing problem, or is it a poor connection at the mic jack?

@michaelovitch if you use your heaphones you can hear sound on the left side too but just a bit. it looks like a balance problem only.

You are correct as well, however current is measured in amperes.

2min30sec. frequency can be explained by on off time (duty cycle) - that's not a correct statement. that's pulse width modulation. Frequency is defined by cycles per second in hertz. You said this MAF varies the frequency. Just putting that out there.

The MAF on my 3.8L OLDS almost caused a car accident. It caused my unsuspecting wife to almost hit a car in front of her but she had the mind set to turn onto curb. It did set a code error after that incident. The MAF called for an increase in fuel when the engine stumbled and almost died at idle. To be more exact the low RPM of almost stalling (because of a bad MAF) made the computer open up the injectors which over compensated for the low air flow. If the brake is not being applied at the time the engine surges for only a second but that is enough to send the car suddenly forward and could be catastrophic if in close proximity to something or someone. Readings using the OBD II scan tool before the error was picked up showed MAF g/s at 5.73 with RPM at 846 RPM. After error code P0102 it showed MAF g/s at 1.75 at 2171 RPM. With new MAF replacement it showed MAF g/s @ 18.77 at 1432 RPM. Tapping on the MAF did nothing for causing engine stumble. You can see that the new MAF has much higher airflow at a lower RPM, which you can use to check your MAF. I don’t want anyone else to experience what my wife did.

mrwebber35 I had the same thing happen on my 02 ford truck. It would idle up and down and when you accelerated did nothing and then would lunge forward at full throttle. Had I been in traffic this could have caused a major accident. I watched YT videos and can say many of these certified techs are WRONG. Where several certifieds say if you unplug the maf your system with use its backup and you can use this as a test means. NOT ON ALL OF THEM!!! My vehicles engine as I described above was just as violent with it unplugged as with it plugged in, so maybe some have no backup memory because my PCM is working right. Next morning I went to Oreilleys parts in my dodge ram and bought the MAF for the 02 ford and after installing it the problem is gone. So where these techs say they you can unplug a maf and it will run right is not true in all cases. The best way to describe what my engine did is a strong man that has a seizure and three people have to hold him down. If a petite woman would have been driving the thing it could have gotten them killed. Its LOL not funny but when your car turns on you and get rabied LMAS. I'm a master mechanic too so I'm not exaggerating here

I loved your video on the vacuum test: very clearly visible, concrete example, brilliant. With this one, I have to remark that you're confusing the electrical notions of frequency modulation and pulse width modulation. Also current and electrical power. For didactic purposes, it's probably better to use a MAF with a simple proportional voltage output. The frequency really doesn't have anything to do with basic operation. That's simply an extra conversion done for better signal transmission.

I know that it is possible to clean the hot wire MAF but what about the one with the film, can the film be cleaned or does it have to be replaced. I don't hear much about the film type MAF.
@realfixesrealfast Жыл бұрын
Carl, as long as there is no current passing thru it, yes it can be carefully cleaned, I have had success doing it

So your saying that if I'm testing a maf...I should check it in hurtz and watch for a drop of current or a raise of current and also determine how long its applying the current to determine if the pcm is working and if so I should check the mag..to servitude it a has any resistants

@michaelovitch it's certainly a mix/editing sound bad configuration because during the recording the sound is on an auxiliary input and certainly recognized like "auxiliary" by the editing software.

@spelunkerd i've got a stereo system and stereo headphone too and i hear only the mike sounds (his voice) of this vid on the right side. the others sounds in the vid are both sides. that's mean his sound input is monophonic or the editing distribute the mike sound monophonic. It's to him to choose during the editing to distribute on the two channels. the poor mike connection is not a bad idea but doesn't seem to be the cause if like you wrote the sound is reversed in others vids.
