Thank you for the great teaching. I was wondering if checking the circuit was even necessary since this code is a performance code. Could a circuit problem trigger a performance code? Would you please answer that for me? Your answer will be very appreciated.
@realfixesrealfast6 жыл бұрын
Great observation! You are correct, for those who completely understand the system and circuit a "performance" code would only be possible if the circuit integrity itself was good. As a teaching method I try and explain the whole circuit for a better background. I appreciate your comments. I can tell you are a Critical Thinker.

Is it a signal wire or ref. wire? 4:37 the PCM? drops it to a 5 volt REFERENCE?
@realfixesrealfast4 жыл бұрын
Good question. I'm actually making an updated video on the MAF right now. It will be posted soon, and I'll address that in detail. To answer your question. The battery inputs 12 v to the PCM which drops it to 5 v The MAF then signals back to the PCM the changes on the 5 v ref to calculate injector pulse width to maintain air/.fuel trims.

@@realfixesrealfast That clears it up for me.When I'm able to get out of the house I'll get my hands dirty. Thanks
@juergenscholl28436 жыл бұрын
You puzzled me, wouldn't the pulse width have be to changed with different masses of air passing over the hot wire and not the frequency?? My understanding is that in the VORTEC system (a part of) the air is caused to reverberate and that the frequency of this vibrations equals to the actual air mass entering the engine whereas the mere hotwire system measures the amount of current to determine airflow. Is this true?

No its not. Watch part 2 for a clear explanation Part 2 will be uploaded soon.

Is it just me, or is the much of the audio missing?
@spelunkerd6 жыл бұрын
Some of the audio clips at the car are missing the signal to the left ear, probably because of a bad connection between the mic and the camera. I wish Duane would invest in a new camera, it would dramatically improve these seminars. Content is excellent but the low res video and audio issues make these videos harder to follow.

When I review the video's I have audio thru it all with no drop outs. Can you tell me exactly which video AND where the audio drops out. I'll check it out. No one else has mentioned it. Thanks for your help. Duane

Audio is working now, maybe one of my speakers was bad.

Interestingly, at 0:22 there is the music intro coming in both ears that fades out, and after that all of the audio is into the right ear. Audio to the left ear is out for all the clips where you're standing beside the car, very good otherwise. I wonder if when you did the transition from music to audio you lost the left ear clips. Also for the part II video, music starts out in both ears. Then when you do the transition at 0:06 the verbal audio is entirely into the right ear. Signal to the left ear in part II is missing for most of the clips where you're looking at the live data graphs. Interestingly, in the single clip starting at 6:07 of the part II video, audio for the right ear is gone and left ear is good! Audio is bilateral and excellent for all the part II clips where you're recording while sitting at the computer (maybe used a different mic?). If you are playing it in mono mode on a computer you may not detect anything because mono sends the same signal to each ear. However for those who use stereo headphones it is a striking and persistent abnormality. Five years ago I would hear this in many videos, but lately with newer cameras it is a rare experience. This is not a problem with my equipment, I watch and upload videos all the time. One trick that sometimes helps for those using stereo headphones is to pull the jack to the headset out a little. If you find the right spot you can get a mono signal sent crossways to both ears. Thanks again for taking the time to make these, Duane. I'm offering positive, constructive feedback as a friend who's on your side. When you do get a new camera, you'll look back at the low resolution and audio issues in old videos and wish you had made the transition sooner.... Dave

interesting. Although without sound some information is lost. You should have thought of that and re-did the video!
