The Mafell LS103 portable chain mortiser is one of our best sellers with the versatility of being able to fit a variety of chain widths & lengths to the standard machine.
Weighing only 9kgs this chain mortiser is perfect in the workshop but also on erected roof structures & renovations of old buildings. The long guide plate has a wide adjusting range & permits work even on large timbers.
Only a few modifications are required & the LS103 is ready to cut grooves for gutter supports for example. The new chain stretching system of the LS103 allows a quick exchange of the chain set & a re-tightening of the chain without removing the chain guard.
When working at depths of 150mm we highly recommend the purchase of the FG150 support which ensures that the cut remains square.

The Mafells was allways one of the best machines. My father startet 1954 a carpenterfactory with used Mafell machines. I continued this factory and closed it 2010. Allways the Mafells was working without problems, sometimes a little repairing for a slow money. I could sale this machines for the money my father had payed, because it was very good quallitay. This was circularsaws, handbandsaw and soon, but all was in metall. Sorry for my english and much greetings from a german carpentermaster.

My son is a Green Oak timber framer/carpenter and I used the Mafell chain morticer {under his tutelage!} on some long and expensive beams..A lovely machine. Imagine having to cut out deep mortices by mortice chisel and mallet..You'd never make money on the job.
