It is always a bummer when a company does not take the time to do a good fabric cape/cloak. Maketoys' Nemesis Prime had a terrible cape that I replaced with a custom one that I did. I used fabric from Joann's that had actual texture and weight. It made Nemesis Prime look so much better. I think I spent less than $3 which always confuses me when companies give us that crappy satin stuff.

Not sure why everyone still is fretting about the concept of Batman being a murderer in this movie. It's not like that he has never been a complete psycho path in the comics, especially in some of the grittier graphic novels, where he openly carried guns and was shooting to kill. We all know that true to his character, Batman "wouldn't kill" anyone, but even in the comics....that has not always been faithful to that characterization. That's the whole pointJoker has made since he has been toying with Bats since the beginning. Batman is a psychopath, and his "moral compass" is just as fragile and weak as it can be with such a flawed character as bats. He never does what he must for the "right thing", he has always done what he must for his own psychological preservation. That was the point of the scene. Batman lost faith, lost his moral obligations, and went on his own primordial instincts he tried to silence. He lost his humanity, and the devil/Alien was more human than human. But even then, who is to say what every feeling he held over the name Martha was not also a psychological selfishness and replacement fantasy of his.

I have to agree with what you said, its a great figure but once I sat this on the shelf it has stayed there and its the cape that keeps me from picking it back up. May give it the ol' college try and make a custom cape. I picked up superman too....his is worse.

Great review. Do you think MAFEX Batfleck's delts/ shoulders are backwards on the figure or pics on the box? There is a discrepancy between the two. Curious because your comment about the shoulders.

Great review. Good point from your daughter. While I'm not a fan of that movie, and I think that scene could have been executed better, I definitely feel that's what the scene is going for. I'm just a big fan of the whole facial expressions speaking for themselves kind of thing I guess. Like I'd have cut out the part where he yells "why did you say that name?" and Lois running in screaming it's his mother. I'm pretty sure it's been shown by this point that he knows Clark is Superman, and would have done his research. I feel like just hearing Martha would've been enough, and that when I'd have him have the realization. Rely more on Batman's facial expression and silence. Still see what they were going for and I really like the concept. Besides I'm no director so what do I know.

I'm sorry, Skullface, but the "Martha" thing is dumb for more than one reason. 1. Why would Superman ever refer to his mom as anything other than "Ma"? It's out of character. 2. Why would Batman care that Superman has a mom, when he didn't give a crap about the 12 or so people he murdered during the kryptonite car chase? If the whole idea was that he found his humanity in that moment, then they shouldn't have made him a murdering psychopath in the movie, and instead had him struggling with the decision to murder Superman. If he was conflicted from the beginning, then it would make a HELL of a lot more sense why he changed his mind. 3. It really did all come down to their moms having the same name. That's why we're reminded of Batman's parents' murder (AGAIN), why he visits their graves (multiple times, I think), and why there's a closeup on their mausoleum plaques before a weird bat monster busts through. David Goyer and Zach Snyder thought they were clever, and built the whole movie around it, without bothering to wonder if it made sense.

bigbeltz smallpantz 1) he didn't want to reveal who his mother was. And ma is less specific in helping batman find her. 2) that's kind of the point. Batman had lost his way and it was hearing that name at that point and then realizing that it was someone fighting to save their parents that batman feels he failed to do that makes him realize he's gone too far. And yes it also humanizes this "alien" to him. 3) the whole concept of "your mothers name is Martha too? Let's be friends!" Is so far off base from the point of that scene. But I get that a lot of folks see it that way. But that's really a shame to me
