Mafia misplayed so hard. Aiden claiming he’s a role for no reason pressured himself into claiming medic to continue that pointless lie no one had accused him of anything. And killing the medic instead of Scar afterwards was stupid you let the Cop confirm another towns player for free.

Heya! I’ve watched every mafia from every summit & will share some longform postgame-analysis in this comment (love mafia, love the smash crew, and that love goes for both melee AND ultimate!). So if the game got you excited and you’ve already filled up on memes, dreams, and the rest of the lovely comments, we’ll deep dive without further ado… [spoilers to follow] Town MVP: Scar • Grade: B • Here’s what scar did well: Scar did the smartest thing given his situation. As cop, he investigated his bestie, his brosef, his soulmate: toph. There’s a history of mafia games where toph and scar have mindgamed each other down a rabbit hole of failure & wasted time, where despite BOTH BEING TOWN, they would constantly lead discussions back to themselves and give the mafia free passes as all eyes drew on them. Knowing this, Scar checked Toph, to avoid that entireeee situation. It was a great play, because Toph happened to be mafia. Scar also picked a good time to reveal, and while being a little weird and needing some elbow grease from hungrybox to fully give the information out - it still worked out (Scar was hesitant, thinking there could be more plays to be made based on withholding his info as cop, but consequently just divulging everything at that point WAS THE PLAY, and he ended it up doing just that.) Now the reason it’s just a B Grade is that other than these 2 points, everything else kinda just fell in his lap. The rng aspect of revealing mafia so early and a misplay from Aiden, topped with so-so play from the rest of the mafia led to a town win --- which was mostly a result of mafia-playing-bad vs. a town-playing-great. But you gotta give credit where it’s due and without Scar, this game wouldn’t have been so easy. Other notables are mango for gives some good reads (died too early to make crazy plays tho), and hbox for basically securing lethal at the end (wasn’t too mind-blowing as most of the town saw the path to victory as well). Good COPPIN Scar :D Mafia MVP: None • Grade: C+ • Would’ve been Aiden, but he misplayed by claiming he was a role, when unprovoked and having no real reason to do so. It puts way too much pressure on you, as mafia in the early day/nights of the 1-2 range, to claim you are a role. This is even DOUBLY so because Aiden was the mafia frontman, while Toph was semi-talkative and Shroomed was the quite guy. The combo was a good one, but the frontman can’t also try to fake claim, it’s too much for one person to handle and it will just seem suspect. I actually think Aiden started the game at like a B+ level, and figured he would start swaying the convo in a mafia positive direction; but once he did the claim and Scar come at soon after - the game was over. Toph got scouted by Scar and couldn’t get going this game at all. Not even a misplay on his part, just unlucky that he got scouted by cop early. Shroomed didn’t have enough impact to make any crazy plays by the end, so the mafia slid slowly in a defeat by the town as they got into a numbers game near the midpoint. Other thoughts: Ken was a good first kill, as mafia thinking at least 2 steps ahead can figure that mango would be saved (btw, Mango would be the best kill, but too risky with medic around). Also Shroomed’s question on Void early on was a bad play - I detail this more in the commentary w/ iBDW below. All in all, Aiden started a decent lead for the mafia, and Toph was about to plant some seeds of destruction, but mr. Bobby Scar had other plans as with his night 1 cop scout of Toph, he secured an early kill of a mafia. Aiden’s ‘role claim’ forced him into a do or die situation with Vish, and then the numbers game secured a town victory when Shroomed could do nothing but watch. Thoughts on the rest of the class… • Mango: High tier town player in mostly games, and despite dying in the 2night, threw out some valuable reads. Particularly the sus call on toph, which ultimately didn’t matter in the grand scheme of things being that scar had already checked toph… it gives everyone a peace of mind to follow in mango’s leads, and gives you that warm fuzzy feeling that scar is probably the cop, and is telling the truth about toph, who mango was also sus on. Everyone likes following mango; and it’s good! Because he’s usually starts good discourse for town. • Hungrybox: Very quiet this game, and usually more in the fray (especially when mafia). I would say he really came alive at the end… helping lead to an already secured win, which isn’t 500IQ or anything but certainly worth something (can be ‘easy’ to mess up those winning scenarios, town pretty much has it on lock unless someone goofs and Hbox kept that from happening). Last note on Juan is that I worry that it’ll be tough to maintain that same level of sidelined gameplay when/if he is mafia in the future. He’s just usually more involved, and might seem jarring to all of a sudden be more talkative in future games. • BobbyBB: Wasn’t ready for the BTS-Mafia-Meta, where silent noobs die first. Hard to say much more because while he didn’t really play poorly, he certainly didn’t prepare anything to help his cause as a rookie (and wasn’t ready for the inevitable pressure that would fall on him). • Void: He’s pretty good in 6mans, and funnily enough even in large games he only really gets into his 500IQ mode when it’s the last few peeps. By the time the game got this late, it didn’t matter though, because town had already basically won… so Void didn’t really get to flex this game. Good player though generally speaking, even if it was a little petty to want to be ‘alive’ when the town won lol (if the game wasn’t 100% secured, that kind of logic could have lead to misplays potentially :S… but I know void was more or less memeing so… gets a pass). • iBDW: I think he has the timidity of a new player, but the brain of an experienced player. When he was scared to give input because he had nothing to say, and then pressured into asking a question - his question was actually good. He had suspicion on Shroomed for jumping on the statement of Void, which was good sus. Shroomed was trying to get some heat on Void, by attempting to get the room to believe that Void’s claim was false; his claim being “I would never kill Ken - he’s too good a player”. This was a weak play from Shroomed, because no mafia would state something so obviously 1 dimensional this early in the game… it’s high risk low reward to start commenting on ken as a mafia. So it made Shroomed seem sus, and iBDW picked up on this. Long story short - he’s got good reads and will probably be a good player with more experience / confidence in future games. He also didn’t have to flex as vigi as the game was won before he had to actually make a decision on who to shoot. • Ken: Killed early - can’t say much…. Just kidding I can --- Ken is 2 things: 1. Underrated, 2. a strong player. The majority of his mafia showcase comes from the 6-man formats, but anyone paying attention to those could see that he has some serious gut reads and mafia sniffing super powers. I’d love to see a game where he lives longer; I see Ken as a strong town player on paper (but admittedly I’d like to see it in a non-6-man). • Vish: Pretty strong counter claim as the ACTUAL medic. Not so much what he said, but how he said it - he was very animated, and sold the frustration much better than Aiden (who sounded like a liar). Again this is all based on appearance/delivery, not content. I think Aiden struggles with that, as his content ranges from so-so to good and sometimes great; but he doesn’t seem town enough when mafia (an actually townie watching a mafia fake claim a role will 10/10 times get very emotional, flustered, and loud etc - and this is usually a strong reason to believe the 1st claim is BS, unless the setup is very good). Anyhow solid game from Vish, saved mango first (good play), and then made a save later that secured an already town-leaning game. • Webs: Mostly silent, and kinda just rode in on the town win by the end of it all. Didn’t really misplay anything however, and understood the plan so that’s a +. Need more games to get a better read on him.

Since everyone knew already Scar was detective Mafia needed to find Medic since he was gonna save Scar every night, which meant he could expose more and more Mafias as time went on. And I think Aiden tried to set a trap, claiming he was medic, so that the actual medic would show his face, making it easy for the remaining mafia afterwards to kill medic and then Scar. I think that was a pretty clever set up and Vish stepped straight into that trap, even though this meant that Aiden had to sacrifice himself (But since he was heavily sussed that was a pretty good idea)

As the other commenter said, you literally can pay to go to Summit. However, you probably won't actually do anything. They don't let people play Mafia really (one time they let a guy do it, and Void killed them night one without knowing that it was likely their only chance to play mafia. Ken says that whoever killed them is fucked up because Ken knows how rare it is for a random to get to play with the actual invitees.). People will probably think that you're a bit of a poser too, since it's like you're paying to go to a party where no one knows who you are.

He sounded so genuine in his assessments, he was a good mafia until he claimed medic to try and clear his name, as well as out the medic. idk I think it's pretty bad ass to claim medic there. But it's going to be difficult to pull off. If you do make that decision, you got to be really fucking prepared if someone counter claims. He was sus but he had not been accused again that round, there was no heat on him at the time yet and he outed himself when supposedly he was the one role that could not be saved by medic. What does that offer town, if he was telling the truth that just means he would have been the next kill after scar (if mafia was playing okay) and there was nothing that could be done about it because medic cannot save himself. Maybe if it came back around to him since he claimed a role last round it would have been a good play at the time, then again he put himself in that situation, he didn't have to claim last round either.

Omg, Mafia played so bad. Aiden’s Medic claim had no planning to it whatsoever. And he knew the real medic had just saved someone so he was just going to be sacrificing his life to get the Medic info and they still had to kill the cop first. Which then Shoomed didn’t kill the Cop and left him around another night?? Just to kill the real Medic when the town probably would have done it for him just to clean up the fact that there was a counter claim. The only error on town at the end was killing the guy with long hair when he was 100% ok with dying for their guaranteed plan to win. His complete willingness to die for the cause proved he was town and they could have won while saving more townspeople. Even though it doesn’t matter how many are left, it is nicer to win with numbers.

Mafia really fucked up in a couple regards Shroomed should have killed Scar not Vish because Medic can't save themselves, if Vig hadn't been there still the situation would have been harder to win and not guaranteed either way it would have thrown some suspicion on the remaining town Aiden claiming a role and asking medic to save him was also stupid, he was obviously going to call Cop or Vig likely Vig though given the fact he knew Scar claimed Cop. Next round he claims medic stupidly completely contradicting asking medic to save him and since he couldn't have saved himself (if he was medic) it made no sense.
