Magazine Disassembly Tool for Glocks

Have you ever had a tough time taking apart your magazines? Sometimes they just get dirty and you want to clean them out, but getting the Mag Plate off can be really tough. Especially the first time!

I had to use a pair of pliers to get mine apart. Scratched up the mag which isn't a big deal. What is a big deal is using metal pliers can damage or break the magazine. Think I'll get one of these and one of the MDTs. Lenny you rock love the videos and tour a great teacher. Wish you had a store local to me in ohio I'd be in there a lot buying parts. Keep otnup

Use a C-clamp to push the base of the mags( mild pressure) in while you stick a punch in the base plate. Works like a charm

* beats most Floor Plate removal tools...Forcefully pushing or pulling the floor plate from the magazine body eventually wears the tabs on the magazine body. Compressing the 'magazine body tabs' in order to disengage the floor plate for removal is a superior method of disassembly. Note: push the magazine's "insert" upward toward the top of the magazine *before compressing the magazine body at the tabs. ***SEE page 8 of the "Glock Preventive Maintenance" pamphlet downloadable from Glock.

Good video, nice instruction, I'm buying one. A helpful hint, you should always visually and physically inspect the chamber so there's no need for hammer/striker down procedure.

If you're having trouble, you gotta be careful, but grab a "c-clamp" and use it to slowly and just barely squeeze the sides of the mag inward to depress them out of the way of the cutouts/ears on the baseplate. Again, be careful. Then grab your punch to press down on the floor plate stud and then slide the baseplate backwards. Presto

I just installed a mag extension on a glock 43 and used a small pair of pliers opens wide.it fit perfect the only problem I had was the hole in the end didn't match on the bottom so I have to rely on the side clamps

I placed Pearce grips on my G26, no problems until the 3rd mag! My 1st time......

Do the G31/32 magazines have extra thick walls? I can't take mine apart! The walls are so stiff that no matter how hard I squeeze, the damn floor plate absolutely refuses to budge even a tiny bit. This is really aggravating because I need to replace the spring. Why does Glock make it so difficult to take these apart?

Just use a pair of channel locks and a small screwdriver and it will work perfect

Coming off was easy. Putting a new one on is what's tough. I even slightly oiled the sides and still haven't gotten it on. #irritated

or you can save 20$ and wait time by using your vice to gently squeeze it and then pull the plate off..

What a nightmare. Just swapped the base plates off 3, 9 round 27mags. I used a tshirt to throw on top of the mag because it was to small to get a grip of. Shoved my disassembly tool into the floor plate, and pumped it like a water well. I tried to do that method in the vid but it wouldn't work. Bent the shit out of my disassembly tool so I straightened it and just kept yanking down and they popped right off. 2 solid yanks of the tool (lol) and you should be good to go. All the way in, yank down twice while applying pressure, should be golden. There also appears to be no damage done surprisingly. Aside from my intense monkey like rage episode trying to get the plate off and my crooked disassembly tool that is. Goodluck.

I still think it's hilarious that Glocks need a tool to take the mags apart. Why do they need tabs when no other manufacturer needs them?

BS I'm six feet two hundred and fifteen lbs and the magazine plates are a pain in the ass. I ruined my plate trying to get it off. I've used vice grips and channel locks to squeeze it. I push the pin in and still the face plate won't slide. How the hell are people with hand problems or seniors like myself going to the plate off.

Nice tool. This video is ridiculous though. 5 minutes before you touched the tool. About two minutes of useful info. Everything else was useless babbling.

Just cut the stupid locking tabs once you have it dissembled. They serve no purpose.
