With bare feet
or changing soles
occasionally holding a cane,
Everyone a potential composer.
For keys a corridor in length
and steps of stone or wood.
Against the walls.
Stubbornly returning their echo.
The arcades as containers,
hollow arched speakers
and basements with views to the sea.
Metronome marks in moods,
age comes second and changes the tempo.
I seek orientation in their footsteps.
Tracing their source.
Spying behind their obvious sound.
Here.
In Ano Syros
and in the Monastery
I insist.
Until I hear the scamper of a child.
