As a new owner of the game, I can only echo what has been said countless times in that you have done an amazing job in explaining this game and helping me and others to understand this dense rule book. For that, I say thank you! It has been very much appreciated!

I know this is an old video, but I just wanted to say that I watched your 8 part first reconnaissance video series and it was a tremendous help. Looking forward to watching this series now to expand on the rules and get a little more knowledge on the game flow. Thanks for being precise and clear in explaining how to play.

I have been holding out on buying this game for a while now though I love MK as I played it before when it was like Heroclix. I was being held back by the complexity to price ratio getting afraid that it will just gather dust in the shelf; but seeing your videos, I decided to bite the bullet and buy it! Hopefully arriving next week 😁 here’s to not getting lost on the rules lol. Thanks for a really great walkthrough and S2 vids! Will watch the others too 😁

at 10:00 he throws away a card he didnt use and later he tells he spent all of his card , the one he put on the cards was NOT used . :D (card not played was improvisation ..)

For setting up the green non-core tiles you don't select tiles numbered one through seven, you should draw seven random tiles from all of the green tiles that come with the game and then shuffle them. Great job with the series, keep them coming!

Thanks for such a great video series. Mage Knight is a beast of a game, but your videos really helped me turn the whole process into simply looking up rules here and there as I needed them; as opposed to starting completely from scratch. Thank you! Its been a terrific game! I can remember the first dragon I slayed (using Tovak) and the first city I conquered (using Arythea - it was the white one!). That earthquake spell is incredibly useful for attacking cities... makes sense!

Thanks, Jennings. This is great news - I totally missed this rule and it makes the game much better (I think) to start with zero mana reserves.

Ricky, i know this video is kinda old, but references for a setup. So, when the rulebook says 7 countryside tiles it means you pick 1 through 7 and then just scramble? or you pick all eleven, randomly pick 7 from them, then you scramble agaain to set your tile deck?
@JennerNuwen3212 жыл бұрын
One other mistake - you didn't actually use all your starting hand. I believe you generated the 3 attack you needed without using the Improvisation card but you discarded it anyway. Anyway I love the series and can't wait to see the others! Thanks!
@BoxofDelights11 жыл бұрын
Rodney's show is great for sure, but a different kind of show.. his is more interactive, mine are meant for learning and reference I guess really... Thanks, it is a compliment to be compared to WiP ! Yes, Dummy is JUST a timer, nothing else.
@Johnny144D12 жыл бұрын
Great Job, very enjoyable and its a lot easier to understand gameplay from this compared to the rulebook! Thanks!
@zazen6912 жыл бұрын
The rules allow you to discard any number of non wound cards from you hand at the end of your turn, so you could decide not to keep improvisation if you so choose.

I agree .. solo is great ... playing with other folks is an opportunity to have some other games hit the table.. MK is a special treat just for me :)
@stormy77227 жыл бұрын
Anyone interested in this game NEEDS to watch this series and the previous one. I really do enjoy Mage Knight, but cant seem to get past the "timer" of only having 3(?) days/nights to finish the scenario. I hate being timed in any game, like to explore and be casual..lol.
@BoxofDelights11 жыл бұрын
Hi, no. Dummy is not a player, only a timer. The rulebook expains it as 2 + the number of "real" players. Hi this helps :)

This is an exceptionally well done series. You've got a good speaking voice and easy delivery, not to mention great video editing skills! With each segment only around 9-12 minutes, it really helps the viewer digest the rules. Any chance you are a fan of War of the Ring? That complex game could really use some game play examples done in this style.

Eh... sorry if you answered this before, but did you swap those 2 starting tiles at the beginning of the game?

Question: you said you took tiles 1 through 7 for the countryside tiles, is that how it's supposed to be? Or should I take 7 tiles randomly?

hi i would have a few questions again about cities. So can i enter a city from any space that it is accessible and when conquered can i exit the city to a diferent space than i entered it from? Can`t seem to find the answr to theese things from anywhere...
@BoxofDelights7 жыл бұрын
yes, you can exit the city to any accessible space once it is conquered.
@Johnny144D12 жыл бұрын
One more thing, perhaps you could explain some of the strategic decisions that you make during the game, as the first series was more about learning the rules? Dunno, just a thought, thanks again for all your work!

You don't get any crystals at the beginning of the game. Just in case you missed that. The dots underneath the backpack box is only for the dummy player used in a solo scenario...
@ClockworkGFX10 жыл бұрын
Hey Rick, I am going to be getting my first board game soon and I was wondering what you think would be better for a solo experience, but also with the option of adding another player. Mage Knight or Eldritch Horror?
@BoxofDelights10 жыл бұрын
Either can be played solo or multi-player. I would recommend EH of the two as a first step, as it is real easy to play, and fun with others. For me, MK is best kept for one person, unless you are both dedicated gamers with plenty of time to kill ;) Solitaire, MK is my #1 game (see my top 30 solo games series).

@bhaktakun12 жыл бұрын
Thanks for making an S2 for your Mage Knight Series. Your backpack seems empty - is it because of the scenario (that you do not get any crystals at the start) or is it due to the Hero you picked?

When a unit is discarded because of paralysis, does the block of the unit still count?
@BoxofDelights10 жыл бұрын
MrIgor20011 block happens before assigning damage... if you successfully block then there is no attack; and block is all or nothing (you can't partially block an enemy)
@MrIgor2001110 жыл бұрын
Ricky Royal I need rephrase my question: Can you assign damage to a unit before it is removed because of paralysis?

oh yes - absolutely! Paralysis only affects units that take damage, so use them to soak it up :)

the +1 fame for discovery is ONLY for the First Recon scenario.

This is not correct. At the end of the Round you discard them. Not at the end of the turn. At least that how I understood it reading the rulebook. I sometimes compares what Ricky is saying in his videos with the rulebook and game walkthrough book and it feels like he is following very good.
@MrIgor2001110 жыл бұрын
You didn't need to use improvation
@BoxofDelights10 жыл бұрын
MrIgor20011 that's correct :) I didn't (see next episode) as I realised I'd gathered it up by mistake. But you can discard voluntarily if you wish, so it would not have been a problem :)
