Ah the First Cabal. If there's anything that can embody the failure of the Nine Traditions against the Order of Reason it's the Tragedy of the First Cabal. Reluctance to cooperate, keeping secrets from each other and blind hubris ruined what could have been a glorious start to the Nine Traditions. And perhaps the most damning part about it was that Heylel for all of their sins, was right. The Traditions needed to truly unify if they were to oppose the Order of Reason. But they didn't, even after the First Cabal. The Solificati would be driven out and the remaining eight Traditions would spend the next several centuries spending more time squabbling with each other rather then presenting a unified force against the Order of Reason, allowing it to flourish and eventually become the Technocracy. Though I will admit, I've always had a mixed opinion on the Heylel-as-Moloch stuff at the end of the book. I've never been crazy on the idea in MtAs that Fate could so utterly set in stone, that Heylel had to die or he'd become basically the Mage!Anti-Christ. This is a game about bending and reshaping Reality after all so the idea that those were Heylel's only two fates is silly to me. Though that may also be because I'm fan of the Solificati and at times in MtAs it seems like the only reason they exist to help form the Traditions and Heylel's betrayal with the modern Solificati often being treated as the Craft of LSD. It's one of the reasons why I'm hoping we eventually get a Disparate Alliance book to have the Solificati be more than just an former Tradition and the Craft of LSD.

That final point is an excellent one to make. While most TTRPers have heard of WoD, the absolute domination of Vampire and Werewolf made the others seem like they were just additional background sourcebooks. But each was a completely different story, with underlying themes that let the groups explore different parts of life. Vampires being successful at creating the Camarilla makes sense, as it was solely about telling a bunch of stubborn old people to do it or they'd die. (Think Covid vaccine 😉😂) It's the same with Garou, Kuei-Jin, and the various human factions. But Mages and Changelings are a bit different. Their identity is inate, changing even a small part could completely change the whole. A Verbena convinced that the digital wizardry of a VA was the way forward could lose faith in his own paradigm and call down Paradox on himself while his VA friend looks on, shock crossing her face. Or, in times like M:tSC, a deeply pious Chorister who isn't able to overcome her belief that even Mages receive their power from God, seeing a particularly infernal looking Hermetic ritual, could call down Paradox on his cabal mate, or intensify an attack that was already started. Mage and Changeling are the 99 Red Balloons of the WoD. You look at them and hear the melody and it's all joy and colour. Then you listen to the words and realise that they're some of the darkest stories of loss, doom, and eventual failure. 🤔

Of all of them Daud-Allah´s backstory feels most like a player character a DM would look at, raise his eyebrow and say "Really?"

He’s name I can go against it, but I can easily replace it with Daud Abdullah . Because that how it should be, Because using the name of his almighty is one own name is forbidden in Islam, but put one name as humble servant and worshippers is allowed and encouraged, which it’s why better have his name changed . But good lord! He is a such badass!

Lazar, I’m curious. Off the top of your head how long would a general complete timeline of oWoD video be?
@EthanKristopherHartley
@EthanKristopherHartley Жыл бұрын
I'm not a video maker, just an old Storyteller with waaay too many 2nd Ed era sourcebooks. But it'd definitely depend on the amount of detail you wanted to go into, as well as how wide you wanted to throw your net. If it was something like a list of just important dates and activities then I'd imagine you'd be looking at a series around 5 (ish) hours. If you were going to cross reference it with existing lore vids then you could probably get it down to 3 or so. If however you want something more like this but for all of time then, without repeating the same situations from the different angles, I'd imagine it'd be at least 10-15 hours. As for the research time, cross referencing and editing, my eyes are watering just thinking about it. Without a Virtual Adept or Seer handy we wouldn't see Lazar for so long that even Caine sightings would be more common! 😁 (But that's pure guesswork on my part from looking at the detail and accuracy of his work up to now.)

@@zackkilgore528 Oh, it'd be an amazing series (I wouldn't want a single long form video), but the sheer amount of work would absolutely terrify me. Especially knowing as many "*adjusts 👓* Well, actually, I think that you'll find paragraph 4 on page 23 of the abridged guidelines that they gave out at RPcon 1997 at Ribchester town hall clearly says..." type people as I do, I'd be doing everything I could to get it hidden away as far down the algorithm as possible. 😉 😁 😂

@Mordrevious

*Long*. Especially considering (if I remember correctly) that there's some implications in Demon that all of the contradictory histories from all the gamelines like Werewolf are all true all at once even when they contradict each other because of some weird multiverse/continuity merging stuff that happened in-universe. Not to mention the various endtime Gehenna storylines that are all mutually exclusive. And even longer with Orpheus being the canonical "sequel" to Wraith.

I really enjoy listening to Lazar. Been listening to these podcasts about the different WoD lore. I am now running a longstanding campaign in New York with my group and its been a blast making all the borroughs. Its a bit like making 5 cities in one and having rivalries between them and in them. I was trying to find more lore about the famous characters from New York and realised none have yet done any podcasts about Cities. Maybe a project you might wanna take on? New York, London, Chicago, Berlin etc all have interesting history to work on. Also, please do something about Calebros! Why wasnt he in the top 10 vampires of nosferatu? Literally cant find any podcast that mentions him.
