I am surprised you didn’t mention the fact that the set moved towards the front during the performance. Maybe it didn’t the night you went. This device brought her into closer view with the audience and separated the character from her surroundings

It's impossible to cover everything in a short review but I agree the production design was worth a special mention. The set moving forward and the lighting focusing increasingly on Maggie Smith were subtle and very effective.

Yes, this is the same review as the one I posted two days earlier. Only the green screen image has changed. Thank you to Lynn S for pointing out that I was standing outside the Donmar, background for my previous review of Sweet Charity, instead of the Bridge.
