I will never forget seeing Maggie Smith, Jeremy Brett, Jessica Tandy and Hume Cronyn starring in a production of Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream" at the Stratford Shakespearean Festival in beautiful Stratford, Ontario, Canada. I was so mesmerized by their performances, that I went back and saw the production four more times. ❤️ ❤️❤️❤️

Saw both the play and Dame Maggie win this award - I have always said watching her performance in Lettice & Lovage was the single greatest night I have EVER spent in the theatre!! She was magnificent - that this show does not exist in either audio or video is a travesty

I saw this play back in London in 1987. I so loved it, and the next day walking down the Haymarket looking for a matinee because I had some time, who did I see but Margaret Tyzack also looking for a matinee. I never approach celebrities but how could I not this time? She was so charming, so kind....I love both of these women.

There is a videorecording of the show. But its use it is restricted for specific users (imagine that you are wrting a book about Peter Shaffer for example) Many shows are taped for the NY Public library using a single camera and with no credits. So if you ask for permission and you are lucky maybe you can watch this wonderful play www.nypl.org/about/divisions/theatre-film-and-tape-archive

I saw it too, and would agree with you - UNTIL I saw Diana Rigg as Medea. Unforgettable.

I saw her too, on Bway. As the old cliche goes, I laughed so hard I nearly started crying. She was superb.

One of those nights in the theater that you walked out invigorated after watching her, Margaret Tyzack and Paxton Whitehead. You didn't want it to end.
