He does have his pasaggio under perfect control. You can only tell he is in head by a slight change in timbre. Combined with his strong falsetto you have a perfect lyric tenor.

The way you reacted to Austin's voice, we just knew you would love this. Also thank you for explaining the technique a little bit. Because I don't know anything about music (aside from what sounds good), I don't always realize how good a performer needs to be to pull something like that off. And that video message?! Sigh... I love how on the second chorus he intentionally makes it super falsetto-Y to make his reassertion of the melody more powerful without making it feel frail by bookending it with airy unstable notes.

If you haven't heard yet (just came out) Austin's cover of Etta James, At Last, oh man! I near cried, it was so incredible. I ended up even loving it more than this if possible. And I LOVE this. But the other is so super relaxing, almost put me to sleep in a great way. I love how all of Austin's words are sung so we can understand them. He doesn't ever show any effort. He has learned so much about how to breath and hold his breath and his falsetto, etc.. When you are at live shows, it's hard to believe what he can do. He's special. I hope he puts out an album of all the new originals and covers. He's got just about enough by now to make an album. And I'LL BE BUYING IT FAST when he does! Take care, thanks for this reaction. Interesting note on Austin. Before he joined Home Free, he was working on becoming a Broadway singer and had worked hard to try and lose the accent. Obviously joining Home Free completely changed his trajectory :D
