And it is all "Wizard of Oz" themed. For example, there is a song called "Dumb" and the video is scarecrow themed; There is a song called "Color" which alludes to the B&W transition in the film but talks about first love changing ones perspective. It really is brilliant, Toddy is way underrated, IMHO.

They matched their song choices to the storyline throughout the video. Examples, the scarecrow without a brain sings “ I’ve been thinking about you” and the tin man without a heart sings “damaged, my heart is damaged”. Truly, a masterpiece of reimagining the movie using modern songs.

To give credit where credit is due, this video was conceived, written, and produced by Todrick Hall. PTX is in it because, being good friends with them, he knew they would be perfect for the parts and asked them to collaborate with him. The song choices for the video are absolute genius. This is my favorite music video of all time, simply a masterpiece, all from Todrick's creative brain. The bio you read about him left out one important part. He grew up with Scott, Mitch & Kirstie in Arlington, Texas, and they did musical theater together as kids. After he had gained his success, Pentatonix won The Sing Off and their stars began to rise as well. The Wizard of Oz is Todrick's all-time favorite movie, and he came up with this entire project to do with his old friends. The video was especially designed to feature Kirstie more prominently, as she had been mostly in the background in Pentatonix performances up to this point. She literally SHINES in this!! You brought up her side smile, and that's something she has opened up about recently after years of refusing to talk about it. It caused her a LOT of self-esteem problems in her younger days, and was one of the reasons why she was kinda shy in the beginning. She was born with a cleft upper lip, and had to undergo surgery as an infant to correct the problem. If you ever see extreme close ups of her face (especially when she's wearing little or no makeup), you can see a scar extending from her nose down to her upper lip. The surgery caused some minor nerve damage to the left side of her face which caused the side smile, and also caused her lower lip to blanket her bottom teeth whenever she opened her mouth to a certain width. She had numerous vocal coaches tell her that she would never make it as a singer because she couldn't open her mouth correctly. In reality, the affliction never really effected her singing, but she was VERY self-conscious about it. She tried physical therapy to straighten her mouth, but it didn't really work. Most people actually thought her side smile was adorable and becoming on her, but it left emotional scars with her. When you look at her now, it's obvious that she has gone thru facial plastic surgery, and this was intended to fix the problem (or at least mask it as much as possible). In reality, that was all unnecessary, and now she's gotten to the point where it doesn't bother her at all. She even lets the side smile come out every now and then.

There was some kind of accident that damaged the nerve on one side of her face when she was born or young. She is very embarrassed about it, but it doesn't seem to show in newer releases, so I wonder if there was some kind of corrective procedure.

I don't see it below, but the song in the witch section (that ends with her being melted) is new lyrics to "Teeth" by Lada Gaga

Not fry, but it is Chest voice for Avis Bb1!! 😀

What a voice!!! I saw him singing G#1 in chest voice on the "black is the color of my true loves hair" in the very background, but with good headphones we can hear the note for sure. It's very cool.

@@mateusbelmontedossantos1019 yes, he is great! People who aren’t bass singers often confuse really low chest notes for vocal fry

That might have been me about her smile. I've definitely mentioned it, anyway. She does it a *lot* more in the Daft Punk medley.

I've read that Kirsti's side smile was a habit she'd gotten into when she was quite young; you see it quite often in their older videos. Apparently she worked quite diligently to eliminate it and for a few years it all but disappeared from videos, although lately it seems to have been creeping back just a bit. Near as I can tell it has no effect on her sound so...it's kind of just a cute thing of hers and a lot of us find it kind of endearing.

Not quite sure why you didn’t see the Lollipop Guild from Oz. Costumes/makeup are all from the original movie. This was such an incredible homage to the film with the choice of songs matching the brains, heart and courage. But you did get a lot more than many other reactors.
