I have a story about this song. I had a minor operation when i was 38 after the birth of my 3rd child. The operation begins with the letter V. Anyway as I was driving from the hospital, appropriately frozen the DJ came on the radio and said this is a song for Dave. The guys at the office are worried about him as he was having a minor operation today and want him to know that they are thinking of him. When I got back to the office they told me that their first choice was Great Balls of Fire but the DJ said he might lose his job.

I had a double bypass done a couple of months ago. One of the last things I remembered before they put me under was my surgeon and the nurses laughing when I told them the ring tone on my phone was I Wanna Be Sedated.

Thanks! Rod Stewart songs, especially from the early to mid seventies were often a mixture of emotional states. In this case, sorry and regret but at the same time hope for a better future.

Great reaction. Without wishing to devalue Rod's version in anyway, my favourite version is by P P Arnold. In terms of what you should react to, here are a few suggestions for singers: Dame Shirley Bassey - the consummate live performer who sang themes to some James Bond movies. Try "Goldfinger"," Diamonds are Forever" and my personal favourite "I (Who Have Nothing)". She also sang what must be the steamiest duet in history with Neil Diamond. The song was "Play Me". From long ago another great singer was the incomparable Ray Charles. He is famous for such songs as "I Can't Stop Loving You", "Your Cheating Heart", "Georgia" and "Its Crying Time Again", but my personal favourite is "Teardrops in my Heart". Some more great duet performances are Jennifer Warnes and Joe Cocker singing "Up Where We Belong" at Antwerpen, Kate Bush and Peter Gabriel singing "Don't Give Up" Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran singing "The Joker and the Queen" Annie Lennox and David Bowie singing ""Under Pressure"
