Great tips for alternatives to liquids. Here is another for you that could replace your oil, lotion and conditioner, you can buy coconut oil in a tube. It does not count as a liquid because at room temperature it is basically a solid. Coconut oil is great for hair, skin, cuticles. I use it everyday as my moisturizer after my shower. The one I use is by Conscious Coconut and the tubes are 100ml. Happy travels!!

Sisal can also develop mold if it doesn’t dry quickly enough (in the shower and/or humid countries), so those plastic soap bags are definitely better. Great idea to carry a suction hook! As an aside, that reminded me that from years of solo business travel, I carry a rubber doorstop in my bag and shove it under the outside door whenever I’m there - amazing little gadget that provides a lot of safety from potential intruders!

I’ve made soap bags from the fake sisal back scrubbers that are just a hemmed length, shaped like a scarf. Have found them for a few dollars at Walmart, TJMaxx and on Amazon. I actually use the soap while it’s inside the bag ad a scrubber - no need for a washcloth or scrubber, and works great at camp!

For face Uv i use Eucerin 50 for face, come in small package and can be blended with foundation if needed. My therapist recommended this after i got microdermabrasion therapy to remove acne scars and had to be protected extra from sun following spring and summer. Use different sunscreen for my body. This will not get oily and is great for face. Have had acne for years every month when period was coming up and mixed oil skin

You can just use 'soap bags' in a thin fabric - silk or nylon. Last longer and not plastic. Can usually score cheap at a $ store as well. Have you tried crystal deodorants? I tend to sweat a lot but I find it works fine as long as I'm not being excessively active in really hot weather and what's great about them is that you can apply to ALL areas where you tend to sweat when it's hot - it's mild enough for that 😊 Thanks for the tip about how to pack powders - I've started using bicarb soda for my hair etc and have been a little concerned how I'd get that thru customs. And I LOVED the tip about the tooth tablets. (I use teeth charcoal too but I've been really concerned about spilling it when I'm traveling cos it's so fine - what's your experience of this?). I carry tiny bottles of essential oil (usually vanilla) lasts better than perfume and you use less
@MaggiFuchs3 жыл бұрын
Hi Susie! Thanks for your nice comment, and sorry for my late reply. :) Regarding the charcoal… I also had problems with spilling in the past. What works for me are those little black containers with a screw top that they give you at Lush when you get a free sample. They have been spill proof so far for me. But I always open and close them over a sink ,and tap on top a few times before I open them. :)

I didn't notice anything for feminine hygiene. I'm new to your channel so I might have missed something in another video. Do you have suggestions for feminine hygiene? I'm also curious what you would do if you need eye, nose, or ear care... Drops, sprays, etc. I have pretty bad allergies and my "toiletry kit" usually includes a nasal rinse, a nasal spray, eye drops, lid wipes, and sometimes ear drops. It can take up a lot of space. 😬 I'm also curious about what medications you might take with you to travel for pain relief, stomach issues, and other things that might pop up.
@MaggiFuchs2 жыл бұрын
For long term travel, I usually restock once I need it while traveling. I tried all the “sustainable solutions” for feminine hygiene like cups or period panties, but they just don’t work for me and traveling (e.g. I have no way to properly sanitize them). So I just buy whatever I need when I need it. I have not been in a place yet where I could not buy some basic sanitary things like pads or tampons. And allergies are definitely not fun. I guess am “lucky” because mine are more food related, so I need less drops and more pills… 😅 More carry on friends… 🙈 And there I usually bring enough to cover a few days, and then I restock on the go.

Hi Milla! Thanks for your nice comment. :-) Which conditioner bar do you use? I tried one from Lush once, but it melted in hot climate and then I had to throw it away. I tried two different brands so far, but I couldn't make them work for me (yet). But I am not giving up! I would never travel with a year supply of tampons though. When those days of the months arrive while I am traveling, I just purchase whatever they have locally. That worked quite well for me so far.

I would like to see what you put in your liquids bag as 'spreadables and smearables' also have to go in there. It must be a tight fit! Do you have problems getting the toothpaste tabs through security? I love the information about the soaps as I am interested in taking soap products but storing them is a bit of a nightmare. The make-up remover pads never seem to dry easily (24 hours is not uncommon). Any secrets?

Hi! Actually, everything fits quite nicely into the 1l bag. Most of the things count as solids, so the only things I put in the bag are the oil (refilled in a 50ml bottle), perfume, deodorant, sunscreen for the face, conditioner (if I decide to take one), mascara and usually a nose spray. I think thats it. No, i never had any issues with the toothpaste tabs or any other solid toiletry I showed in the video. Yeah, you are right about the drying time of the make up removers. But I dont mind reusing them when they are still wet, and I usually bring one more of those suction hangers to hang it up. And when I‘m on the road, I put it in a little plastic bag. Hope this helps. :)

I have a set of 3 makeup remover cloths (about 1/2 size of a washcloth) made of microfiber. Do a great job getting face makeup off and dry quickly. I prefer cotton circles saturated with makeup remover to remove waterproof mascara. I dampen several, put them into a ziplock bag and because they are like a wipe (which don’t count as liquid,) I bet don’t need to go in 3:1:1 bag.
