Zip loc bags are so useful - I use them for liquids (of course), snacks, leftovers in a restaurant, sorting small things like zip ties and a couple of safety pins, packing clothes that aren't quite dry yet, a first aid kit, and even instead of packing cubes to keep clothes sorted. :)

Some carry on traveller said that we can’t travel with metal knives even dinner knives-- you are so right to have plastic❤❤❤ I have both- inflatable cushion AND neck ring😂 - never know which one i feel like! I also use the small pillow (with a cover i made for it) between my knees to take pressure off my hips while sleeping at night during vacations. Watching again a year later!!! The sink stopper!!!! Genius!!!

In many countries they sell disposable rain ponchos. One time outside a big mall in Thailand a lady was flogging them since it was raining. Talk about ingenuity! I would prefer having one of those with me, but then it doesn't rain often. If I were in a location where it rains off and on every day, I would rethink that.

Take a look at the Lumintop EDC01. It has a little difusor for ambient lighting and, no need to charge... because it runs on a AAA battery😊. And it is quite affordable!
@MaggiFuchs11 ай бұрын
Thanks for the suggestion! I personally prefer to have one to charge with USB-C. I am not a big fan of having to buy batteries when traveling because the packages are always way to big and then the leftover batteries are just dead weight for months. ;-)

Love the video, especially the tip about using the needle to get air out of packaging! As a side note, I'm Brazilian and slightly perplexed that you didn't manage to easily find ziploc bags. If you ask for them at a grocery store or drugstore you should be able to find it, if it's a big enough store. We also tend to have dedicated stores that sell disposable plastic stuff (cutlery, plates, etc). As well as stores that sell cheap homeware stuff (think ice trays, cheap tupperware, so on). It's something that's in a lot of people's homes, so if you didn't manage to find it, just ask any salesperson and they might be able to name a local shop that has them. Leaving this for any fellow travelers that might happen to read it :)

Thanks for the tips! 🤗 Good to know that for the next trip. Maybe part of the problem was that I was more in the tourist area so they had a very limited assortment…

Another great video! You have such useful ideas. I also use a pair of Fiskars scissors - mine are round tip for a child. They were cheap but are still sharp enough for my purposes.That is a very cool flashlight! I've kept a mini flashlight next to my bedside (at home and away) for years, but it uses a battery. A rechargeable one is a very practical solution. Keep making videos! Thank you!

you should give Loop earplugs a try! I’m also sensitive to noise, have very small ears, and am a side sleeper - so on airplanes or in hotel rooms i’d always either be uncomfortable with the noise, or be uncomfortable with standard foam earplugs. since trying loops, i’m a convert! they’re small silicone earplugs that don’t bother you when lying on your side, they have different earbud sizes so you can choose the best fit for you, they’re easy to wash (reusable and environmentally friendly!), and you can choose the noise reduction level by picking different models. i have a hardcore quiet pair that’s perfect for flights and noisy summer nights (in tents and cities both), and a pair that i wear to music concerts and cinema trips. do check them out! and of course, thank you for the video and all the tips 😊

Talking about earplugs... I also have small ear canals plus I hate the pressure from most earplugs, and I use Moldex Contours foam earplugs, they come in two sizes, I use the small one (model number 7403, SNR 35). They have a curved shape that reduces the pressure a lot. As a caveat, they are trickier to use because they need to be inserted so that the curve matches the narrowing at the entrance of the ear canal, otherwise they will not fit correctly and will not stay in place, nor they will provide a good noise insulation. When properly inserted they sit pretty much flush against my ear canal. This are some other models that may be worth a try: Howard Leight Quiet, SNR 28 Moldex Meteors Small size (Model 6630), SNR 28

Thank you for sharing!

As for USB adapters. I pack what we'd call patch cables in the old days. Very, very short cables. But multiple types. Just one cable isn't going to cut it. Last time I had an adapter for my Garmin watch, though. But that one was temperamental. So although I might bring it again, I would prefer a full size if I could.

Maggi, check your towel size first before cutting and resewing. In the amazon description it is approximately 48” by 24”. So cutting it in half and resewing will give you the exact same dimensions but now with a seam. I hope this makes sense to you. But loved the video. Thank you so much.
@MaggiFuchs2 жыл бұрын
Hi Debra! Thanks for pointing that out! Thanks to that, I noticed that it looks like we have different sizes in Europe. The one I have is approx. 52” x 20” (132 x 53 cm). So it is longer but narrower than what they sell in the US. It’s a stupid shape, because I mainly want to use it to sit on it at the beach etc. and for that it’s almost too narrow and all this “unused” fabric from the length is useless on the sides. If I sew it up, it would be 40” x 26” (100 x 66 cm), so it would give me some more width to sit on. It’s really not much, but better than nothing. Should be enough so that part of my 🍑 is not in the sand. 😂
@debragifford49262 жыл бұрын
Thanks for that explanation. Don’t know why the difference in sizes by country!!!
@MaggiFuchs2 жыл бұрын
@@debragifford4926 So true!! I had no idea either. But I have to admit, I like the sizing the offer in the US more, that would solve my problem that I have with my current “scarf”-shaped towel.

There is an Oral B toothbrush that takes two regular batteries. It's not quite as strong as a regular rechargeable toothbrush, but it's strong enough. It's however a bit hit and miss finding it. I searched in Thailand one year when mine broke, and couldn't find it. I have bought it at Öob in Sweden and Normal in Norway. Residue will build up after a while, so if you take it apart to change the batteries (they last at least a month), it probably won't be possible to put it together again. This residue is a mix of pink slime and tooth paste. It will loosen if you add hydrogen peroxide, then wipe it away.

I was looking at the pillow earlier today in fact, but thinking more of a footrest on the plane. I am a fan of Sea to Summit also, though someone at my uni took my towel. My best friend where I live (I am an expat from the states) is from Rio. The flashlight was it inspired by Excessorize Me?
@MaggiFuchs2 жыл бұрын
I never thought of using the pillow as a footrest… I will try that on my next flight. :) And the Flashlight I actually found by chance. I wanted to have a small flashlight for a while, but I didn’t wanted one with batteries and since I had optimized my tech to only travel with USB-Cs and Lightning and I wanted to have one that I can charge with that. And looks like there are not too many alternatives for these requirements. :)
