Greatest American band of all-time. Brian Wilson is the most important songwriter/arranger/producer of the era, still making unique and memorable music until recently. Watch the movie "Love and Mercy" about this amazing musician and human being. Nobody else in the world like Brian. What you heard here was simple music a la Chuck Berry, but within a year of this, Brian was composing music that nobody in the pop music world had heard, including The Beatles.

Probably the most underrated sixties band in America. They were very talented and had a lot of big hits. Many say they were America's Beatles in the sixties and I can't argue that. I'll give them that one as long as you don't say they were the Beatles. There's one and only one Beatles and we'll never see the likes of those four guys again. Period, end of story, ain't gonna happen again. Peace ❤

The Beatles never made an album like Pet Sounds or Smile, period. There's only one Beach Boys and we'll never seen the likes of those five guys again and blahblahblahblah

@@JulioLeonFandinhoLet's review your blahblahblah idiotic reply. The Beatles, "Rubber Soul" "Revolver" Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band". Those three alone are all time iconic records. The debate for many years now has been. What's the greatest album in history? Is it "Revolver" or "Pepper"? Shame with " Pepper" is that the single "Strawberry Fields Forever" and "Penny Lane" were the first two songs recorded for "Pepper" before it was "Pepper". All they knew is that they were recording the first two songs for their next Lp. Unfortunately, due to corporate greed they went out as a single as a double A-side which means both songs were so damn good that there wasn't a B-side, they both got equal radio airplay. By the way, 56 years later it's still regarded as the the greatest single in history. Then we have the single "Day Tripper"/"We Can Work It Out" released as a double A-side on December 2, 1965 the same day as their "Rubber Soul" Lp was released. Both songs shot right up to #1 in both the UK and the USA. "Something"/" Come Together" released in 1969 got equal airplay as A-sides. Refresh my memory for me, maybe I missed something during my lifetime. How many double A-side did The Beach Boys have? Zero, None, Nada, Zilch and that's not an insult towards them. No band or solo artist in history had even one double A-side. Think of all the great bands in history and add up all their double A-sides together and the answer is a big goose egg, Zero. That's not a shot at the Beach Boys or any artist, it's just a cold, hard fact. Also, while we're at it, The Beatles are the only band ever, that all members were also inducted into the R&R Hall of Fame as solo artist's. Not Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, The Rolling Stones or Queen. No, only The Beatles and only The Beatles which speaks to the talent in that band. You're the The Beach Boys expert here. Refresh my memory for me please. How many Beach Boys are in the Hall Of Fame as solo artist's? Another thing which I'm gonna call you out on right now with your stupid greatest five ever BS quote. Let's review that idiotic statement. Drummer Dennis Wilson, one of the five greatest ever. Surely you're not talking about the Dennis Wilson that after the release of their 1963 single "Little Duce Coupe" he was mainly replaced by a studio drummer on their records by a guy named Hale Blaine until Dennis died. This was pretty much Brian's and Capitol records decision. He was fine for concerts but not in the studio. The Beatles once had an inadequate drummer named Pete Best who was their drummer between 1960 - 62 when they played in Hamburg. When they got their big break and signed by EMI to a record contract they fired his ass and replaced him with Ringo Starr and the rest is music history. I haven't even mentioned Capitol's made up Lp "Magical Mystery Tour" which was never an Lp but a double EP in the UK and the songs from the soundtrack from MMM film. Side two of the Lp in America were all A and B side singles from that time period and it worked very well. Then next "The White Album", "Let It Be" and then finally "Abbey Road" in 1969. We're talking 6 iconic album's in a row between 1965 and 1969 and that's not including the 15, yeah 15 #1 hits during those years. You got that? 15 #1 songs and six #1 album's between 1965 and 70. How many did The Beach Boys have during that time period? The Beatles also had 62, yes 62 songs on the Billboard Top 100 between 1964 and 1970 including 21 #1 hits during that period which are both records to this day 53 years after they officially split up. Let those numbers sink in for a moment without your Beach Boys bias clouding your thought process if you're capable of that. Here's a few more facts for you, not fantasy or fiction or Beatles bias. I don't suffer from such delusions. I suffer from factual statements. Let's see here, mmm, The Beatles, almost 900 million albums sold worldwide as of 2021. 1&1/2 Billion singles sold in the USA alone and over another Billion worldwide. As you may be aware, vinyl LP's are a huge business again outselling CD's. Guess who has sold my vinyl worldwide than any other artist every year over the last 10 years. That would be The Beatles! Not too shabby for a band that split up 53 years ago, wouldn't you agree? I don't get where you're coming from with your Beatles dissing agenda. I thought my comments were very kind towards The Beach Boys. I did say they were America's Beatles. What the hell do you want from me? I can't give higher praise than that. They were that great in my books! The thing that made these two bands is that they didn't have one lead singer like The Stones, Floyd, Zeppelin and Queen. The Beatles had three, John, Paul and George and even Ringo got one lead on evey Lp. The Beach Boys had Mike Love, Brian and Carl Wilson and All could sing. Both bands were the greatest harmonizing bands in the history of recorded music, hands down, period, end of story. There were others like The Byrd's, Buffalo Springfield, The Hollies, Crosby Stills Nash & Young and then CSN but they were all short lived bands. The Beatles and The Beach Boys were friends and really pushed each other. When Brian Wilson heard "Rubber Soul" he freaked out and you can probably find on U Tube his thoughts on that record. He'll tell you right now that its one of the greatest LP's ever. That's the one that pushed him and his response was "Pet Sounds" released in 66. McCartney heard this and freaked out and told the other three that they needs to up their game. John loved it but probably didn't give a shit because he thought that no one was in his own class and that he was in the greatest band in the world which he was. A class of his own is was so John but he really believed that. Call it ego or whatever but he was John Lennon, right? That belief is what drove him. The Beatles released "Revolver" on September 5th, 1966 a month before "Pet Sounds" and sorry but it's not considered one of the two greatest LP's for no reason. When Brian Wilson heard this one he said it was like "You've got to be kidding me" "Revolver" was already in the can when McCartney heard "Pet Sounds" The Beatles response was "Sgt. Peppers". You can look this up, Brian's reaction was" How do you compete with that?" You don't. The Beatles and Beach Boys had a very friendly and healthy competition. Without "Rubber Soul" no "Pet Sounds" Without "Pet Sounds" no "Sgt. Pepper's" Without "Pepper's" no "Smile". Some of the most iconic records ever made fueled by a friendly, healthy competition. No other band drove The Beatles like The Beach Boys, the band that I stated in my first comment is easily the most underappreciated band in history. The Beatles loved and appreciated them and that's all of the validation that I need on how great The Beach Boys were. I said in my last comment that The Beatkes, Beach Boys and The Monkees were my favorites as a kid in the sixties. I was eight when The Monkees hit, they were cool. The Beatles loved them and their TV show. Mike Nesmith even hung out with them in the studio when they were recording " Pepper" and he's even in the "A Day In The Life" video. I praised The Beach Boys and you come at me with "Pet Sounds" and "Smile" are the two greatest album's ever. Sorry dear but that's total BS. Have you ever sat down and listened to a whole Beatles album? Doesn't sound like it to me. Sorry, but in no way are those two records superior to "Revolver" or "Pepper" or even "Abbey Road". My I suggest that you go out and buy copies of the 2017 50th anniversary remix of " Pepper" The 2019 50th anniversary remix of "Abbey Road" or the 2022 remix of "Revolver" and then clean the wax out of your ears, drop your delusional Beach Boys bias, put on some great headphones and listen with an open mind as I do with The Beach Boys and then get back to me. No hard feelings but I have a very low tolerance for stupid BS and your reply is not just oozing but also reeking of stupid BS. I complemented The Beach Boys, you got a little nasty with me because I simply stated the truth about The Beatles and most music lovers would agree with me around the world. I wasn't talking records, you come back with "Pet Sounds" and "Smile" as the greatest albums ever. That's total BS, sorry but it just is. When I saw your simple minded blahblahblah BS I'm gonna hit back and hit back hard. I stated my facts, where's yours without total bias? Even in this comment I gave a lot of love and praise for The Beach Boys, they're one of my favorite bands ever. "Good Vibration's" "Wouldn't It Be Nice" "Sloop John B" and "God Only Knows" are all time true classics. Many of their early hits from 63 to 65 like The Beatles were fun and catchy as hell although starting with the release of their "Help" Lp in August,1965 and then "Rubber Soul" in December, 1965 The Beatles had surpassed The Beach Boys, they just weren't there yet and that's a fact. The Beatles had two guys named John Lennon and Paul McCartney, no one else had that and what separates them from all others. FACT! I will continue to love both bands but it's just that The Beach Boys were never The Beatles and that's OK because no one else were ever The Beatles. Stone Cold Fact! If you want to live your stupid Beatles blahblahblah BS then have at it but your wrong. They are by far the greatest band ever. John Lennon + Paul McCartney + George Harrison + Ringo Starr = The Beatles which = The GOAT'S of recorded music history and it ain't even close. FACT! I'm through with you. Any other takers ? Bring it and bring facts, not delusional BS! Once again, no hard feelings Viejo, you're probably kinda cool. Peace
