In the old south, people locked their doors when passing a cemetery because they believed the spirit could enter the vehicle. He will unlock his door because he wants her spirit to come in. Hence, the meaning of that line.

This is not accurate. The song is about suicide from losing a lover. Phil has said time and time again this song was about friends he had who committed suicide but didn’t want the lyrics to overshadow the rest of what the band was doing. I will unlock my door and pass the gates is referring to suicide to be reunited with a lost lover.

The singer Phil Anselmo in his Metal prime was considered the physically toughest singer… The guitarist is Dimebag Darrell and he is almost universally regarded as the greatest guitarist virtuoso in Metal history… PANTERA is the only thrash metal band to debut as #1 on the billboard top 100 still to this day…. PANTERA is on the Mount Rushmore of heavy metal….

The guitar player, Dimebag Darrell, died on December 8 2004. He was shot onstage during a show with his other band damageplan by a mentally unstable fan. His brother Vinnie Paul, who was the drummer of pantera and damageplan, died of a heart attack in June of 2018.
