Great sound man!! You rock on this tune. I love the Hammond sound.

But, weren’t the hits performed on a Lowery organ?
@000AllLitUp000 Жыл бұрын
If you want another 20k views you should do a short walkthrough of it. The verse and chorus is pretty self explanatory, but the slapping and your take on lead would be cool with an overhead view.

You are right Dale and I wish I had done that but I have moved on to other things now. Around 10 years since I made the last Dante video. So, sadly, I seriously doubt I will ever do another video. If there is anything I could help you with just by a message here, I would be glad to

You always seem to wear green shirts. If green is your signature color, why have you not done "Green Onions"? This is the signature B3 rock 'n' roll riff all others will be measured against. But you know that.

i feel the same way like you about keeping the original parts, in fact, i have already replaced the can capacitors with new set of can capacitors to keep the amp looking just like the way it came from the factory. although i had the option of going with much cheaper radial leads capacitors mounted under the chassis. but i decided to pay more and kee the same look like the original. i'am doing all this work my self

Thanks Jon, have fun. I'm friends with Goldy McJohn on fb. He is the Steppenwolf keyboardist that played that song. He was telling me how he got that amazing sound out of his Hammond back in the day. He did an amazing job on that and many other Wolf songs. He is one of the few Hammond rockers from back in the day that is still with us.

Very cool. I learned about unhooking the crossover and horn just yesterday during some web searching. I'll have to be content with whatever I can wring out of my Electro and Ventilator :D

All the guitar lessons and covers sound off but you are spot on. I would love to pick your brain, Is it the key sound that gives the chords that character or is there an added 5th or 7th? all the guitar lessons I look up seem to sound so bland. I find it hard to believe that the guitar is as simple as bar chords. The guitar lessons sound off but you sound spot on.

@@DanteStar7 Right from the start, The main chord progression. Maybe the keys have a added note to the chords? Every tab or video lesson is just playing bar chords and it does not sound like the original song.

@@DanteStar7 or maybe an effect like chorus does it?
@DanteStar72 жыл бұрын
@@RickDrift I guess the first chord I'm playing on the intro is an E9. It has from lowest to highest D, E, F#, G#, B Then I play D, C, G major chords for the verse. On close your eyes girl I play G, Bb, C and work with a G7 with some accidental tones tapped in there. That is really about it. A real Hammond and Leslie go a long way on this song. Where are you from anyway generally? Just curious.

@@DanteStar7 Michigan, Fairly close to Detroit. but yeah, Im almost thinking its the Organ sound mixed with guitar giving it that character

what a talent dude, what year was this organ built? must be from late 60's or 70's
@DanteStar710 жыл бұрын
Actually this organ started as a B2 around 1950. I converted it a couple years ago using the pre-amp from a B3 that used to belong to a guy named Toby Brixey. I got the smooth drawbars from an organ on ebay and about 40 hours of work later I had a B3. They started making B3s in 55 and stopped in January of 75 I believe. They will never make another real one. Save the Hammonds!
@fernandorivas423010 жыл бұрын
i just recently finished recapping the tone generator of my 1960 RT3. the next thing will be to restore the ao28 pre amp by replacing all of the resistors and the electrolytic can capacitors. i'am gonna guess that your ao28 pre amp has been restored as well...either with new resistors and can capacitors, or with the trek II restoration kit!. it sounds incredible1
@DanteStar710 жыл бұрын
Thanks, I had a Hammond Tech go thru my pre-amp and replace all appropriate parts to bring it up to spec. The Trek 2 stuff is all fantastic! Mike who owns it is a wonderful guy. Man, he has been good to me and I have bought lots of his stuff but when possible I like to keep the original Hammond parts. Let me say again Trek 2 has got to be one of the finest and most reliable businesses in operation today. I can not recommend them highly enough.
@DanteStar712 жыл бұрын
How's this for quick answer? I think that was a g7 chord with no third. I used the c# for a little accidental tone. Don't play the c note as you tickle the octave g the 7th and the 5th. It is also about rhythem. Put it all together and that is what I did. Hope your gig goes well tomorrow.

it looks like a b3 to me, it has the percussion control tabs like a b3 and sounds like a b3. i guess the tone generator has been recapped? i'am trying to keep my hammonds alive!
@DanteStar710 жыл бұрын
Ya, the percussion came along with the smooth drawbars when I installed them. It is a b3 now except for the little plate inside it that says b2. They did make some improvements on the twg in the 3 serious but really I think it was just about cross talk. You hear what sounds like. Looks like a b3, sounds like a b3. Ya, I recapped the gen. but I have another b2 that I did the same thing with and it sounds great as well even though I did everything BUT recap it.
