thanks man! there's not a lot of people with these clubs anymore. i can't give em up!

Same! Hold on to them

How did these end up selling? I feel the majority of people would prefer the dark color created from the last 25 years. I just picked a set up today.

Great question! I couldn’t get myself to sell them and got my first hole-in one with them lol. However they went back to the original patina look after 6 months. Can’t even tell I shined them up. Enjoy your set! They’re great clubs

Oh my God! Never do this! The patina on these clubs is part of the value.

This works great. Cleaned up my new BeCus just right. It gives it a nice finish but doesn't over polish. You could polish them further with polishing wheels on a bench grinder, but I like them a little dull. Don't want to blind anybody.

Awesome Craig! Glad it worked for you too

The only issue is that. After cleaning, the green oxidation returns. I’m experimenting with car wax and maybe bees wax to inhibit that. Still, I think they going to be high-maintenance, but well worth it
@rhodehousegolf56243 жыл бұрын
Yeah I’m not sure how to avoid that. I’ve seen and heard rubbing oil on it works too but have yet to try it. Let me know if you find a solution!

If you want to save yourself sometime simply put the whole set in a bucket of Coka cola and leave them overnight they come up pristine. I did this with my first set BeCu but regretted it. Personally I prefer the dark patina and most people do. Basically it’s up to you they will obviously dull again over time. Try and get your hands on a BeCu putter maybe a B60 to match your set. 👍🏻

I’ve seen the Coca-Cola thing on a few videos. Much easier on the hands I’m sure!

That's how I do it and it works perfectly.

I used to own a set of these irons and can attest to your theory. Coke restores the copper shine beautifully and easily. I was always torn between the two images of the clubs; loved the look of the bright copper but the patina was easier to use in the bright, summer sunlight. I miss those clubs!

Just bought a set of these. Will try this method. Done coke method on my 1967 Ping Myday putter. Looks similar in metal-copper look. Anyone know if the 1967 myday putter was Becu metal as well as the Ping eye 2(+) irons? Thank you. Loved the video. Sub'd ya.

I have done this too. Makes the club look like a brand new penny. You need to be careful not to submerge the shaft as I believe it weakens the bond between the club head and the shaft.

nice, will try to clean my set using your method. i actually got it from my dad and actually in love with it.
@rhodehousegolf56243 жыл бұрын
You won’t believe the difference. One thing to keep in mind I found out since it is copper they are continuously tarnishing. So if you don’t like them shiny they will go back to the old look in a few months unless you apply oil to them monthly. Let me know how it goes!

Ive tried everything on mine. Found Twinkle copper cleaner the best. Do recommend cleaning BeCu in a well ventilated area.

I used Twinkle copper cleaning paste. Toothbrush used to work it on and in. Wait a few minutes and then rinse with hot water. Sorry I ever sold them. EPA won’t allow the manufacture of beryllium copper because of the emissions.

Ill have to give that try. Thanks!

My process: 5gal bucket, 2ltrs of Coca Cola. Dump all the cola into bucket and let irons soak overnight. Rinse the next day for the same results with no “Elbow grease” required.

I tried that in another video. Much easier process 😅

Strong vinegar, salt, and baking soda soak. Then shine up. I even buff them. Great clubs. I like when they turn black. When played the patina comes off.
@rhodehousegolf56243 жыл бұрын
First time hearing that way. I’ll have to give it a try! Thanks Jeff

Lol...the baking soda (base) neutralizes the vinegar (acid)!

Using coke (coca-cola) diet, regular, zero, (Pepsi works also) whatever is on hand in a bucket does the trick overnight. You can always add a little sheen, if you want to, the way you do it or with a copper cleaning product like Brasso but it isn't really necessary. Coke does a very good job.
@rhodehousegolf56243 жыл бұрын
I’ll try that next time! They tarnish fairly quickly if you don’t keep up with them

Great question! I haven’t sold them yet. Right before I was about too the postal service lost another set of clubs I sold. Made me hesitant to sell these, but I plan too this year. I’ll make a video for it when I do

@@rhodehousegolf5624 "Lost"??? USPS is a racket of thieves!!! The managers turn a blind eye because the tax payers pay for the losses. At least with corporations like UPS and FedEx, loss prevention is a priority. Not to mention, they only charge about half the price to ship golf clubs.

Beryllium is toxic which is why they don’t make these anymore. The alloy itself is safe, but dealing with the toxicity in manufacturing is too costly. I wouldn’t clean these as I could be exposed to toxic airborne substances. The copper patina is beautiful as is.

Why would u ruin these classics by removing the patena...sad

Doesn’t take but a month or so for them to return to patena style

You're not cleaning, you're ruining the patina that it took years to accumulate. Pity.

Or you could just soak them in coca cola overnight rinse and dry. This is nonsense.
