It is very difficult to explain to anyone who doesn't get this just how jaw-droppingly nuanced and intelligent this material is. That gag about re-established excitement after accepting a disappointment is incredibly clever and subtle observation, the joke is in the audience identifying with it, the casually candid way Aka John relates it in a comic style, and the actual significance of the observation. It's pure comedy at its most elevated level, a modern iteration of a tradition with its roots in antiquity. Wonderful.
