Bird's attitude was total killer. His agent told how young Bird and his brother went to Boston and were put up in a fancy hotel by the Celtics. They never ordered room service or anything, but when it came to contract time, he got paid the highest rookie signing bonus ever. Killer. He came to the Celtics and immediately took over. Cedric Maxwell told a time when rookie Bird made a bucket over a double-team. During a timeout, Pete Maravich (one of the greatest college players ever and a NBA legend) told Bird that he should pass back out when double-teamed. Rookie Bird told veteran Maravich, "If you were any good, they wouldn't be double-teaming me." Maravich retired after that season. KILLER. Larry would dominate today as he did in his era, maybe more now with better medicine. Remember, Bird played most of his career with a badly damaged back. Killer.
