I am a Magic Johnson fan. He is my all-time favorite player. As a kid I was blessed to have had the opportunity to witnessing him, Kareem and Worthy destroy the Knicks at MSG on 2 different occasions.(also once against the then NJ Nets) He is personally responsible for my divided basketball loyalties between the Knicks and the Lakers. As much as I love to hear black men getting involved in successful high profile business ventures, Im very skeptical about how much business acumen and credit for RUNNING a business is to be given to former athletes and entertainers. I started to question that more so after paying attention to the shenanigans of Jay-Z with his "business" ventures with the Nets and the NFL. I believe that these "business" opportunities come as a result of these high profile personalities being offered marketing "mascot" positions. I listen to Magic Johnson and Jay-Z speak and I don't think of the word "business" . The word that comes to mind is "personality". As a black man , I hope I'm wrong about my sentiments.
