I'm with Skip that Phil is a snakey character that I get the same vibe in this Docu as Isiah Thomas. As much as I loathe this type of person I agree with Phil's decision to take a sabbatical. After a decade of this world wide phenomena if he's not burned out and exhausted after 6 championships, even if ignoring what disrespect the GM showed him. Not wanting to coach a rebuild team with just MJ staying and everyone else leaves assuming because the team can't afford them what others might be offering. If this is Phil's second year first ever championship okay he should stay. And it's unfair for MJ to speak for everyone that they'll be back for a 4th. I'm just assuming everyone's contract ending at 98 is a bit contrived. If people are still bound by contract and can't leave then you offer everything to get MJ Pip back and go again. Unfortunate Bulls have been rebuilding since.

I am sorry but I gotta finally comment on this particular subject. Was Skip there? maybe he wasn't but....maybe he was...we are talking 22 years ago when no one really knew of Skip, I think everyone is thinking that his fame "now" was his fame "then" and that may not be fair. He probably was a journalist around those teams just doing his job but of course, we didn't know of him at that time nor did we know he would end up being a popular face "today". Also I gotta say this: if any of you that are attacking Skip on this particular matter are this era LeBron fans that think he is the GOAT, ya really are some hypocrites but it is the SAME LeBron James fans that will attack Skip for him saying he was there during the Last Dance but not physically seeing him in the documentary that are claiming James as the GOAT over MJ but NEVER went back and watched him play in any FULL games or anything like that (just little highlights here and there) so in truth....ya WERE NOT there to see Michael play so you kinda lose credibility to speak on this

@lewalcindor93564 жыл бұрын
@@realitybites629 Skip is still a clown though, and I'm old enough to remember when he first came to the Tribune as a columnist. Part of Phil's need for a sabbatical was Krause's constant disrespect and need for affirmation. Krause believed just like he moved on from Doug Collins to Phil Jackson and shocked everyone and it worked out, he thought he could do the same with Tim Floyd replacing Phil. Krause said REPEATEDLY he didn't want to be the Boston Celtics and hold on to the aging players too long, he wanted to be the Baltimore Orioles who were title contenders from the 1960's into the 1980's. Krause was itching to rebuild and Tim Floyd was ALWAYS his choice to rebuild with. Reinsdorf bowed to public pressure from fans and media though and kept the team together in 1997-98, but by then Phil was sick of Krause's BS and Reinsdorf allowing it.

I’m actually grateful that the Bulls went out when they were on the top. I’d hate to see that dynasty go through the circus and the drama. We saw what that kind of circus can do to teams in 04 Lakers. Coming back would have been an ugly ending to the greatest dynasty in the NBA. It’s not a guarantee that the Bulls would have won in the following year. I’m grateful that my last memory of that dynasty is the last shot that MJ made to win the chip.

Great point. Had the 90s Bulls been allowed to continue their reign until they couldn’t anymore (which likely would have been the next year), a lot more of the dysfunction would have come to light. Winning cures everything, but eventually they would have been beaten and the discord between the players, most notably the supporting cast’s disdain for Jordan, would have been much more publicized. Obviously they still would have been more remembered for what they accomplished, but they would also have been remembered for how they fell apart. Similar to your example of the Lakers in the early 2000s.

At the very beginning, he put out that book that said “The Last Dance,” which already signaled to the guys that this would be it, no matter what.
