Even then, his ankles barely survived the early 2010s He’s much better off in this era than earlier, he’d have hell tryna make it in the 2000s, let alone before. Bowen would’ve made sure to kill that boys ankles with Steph tryna shoot all them vulnerable jumpshots. Can’t even imagine Steph defensively in an ISO heavy game either without that Warriors system to cover him up, he’d get killed… Meanwhile you drop Magic in the current era and he’s just a more athletic Nikola Jokic without the 3pointer (yet) that can run an even better/faster paced offense. Magic is one of the most fundamentally sound players to ever touch a ball, fundamental skill will translate over any era. Shooting is not the end all, be all in basketball.

It’s an easy call. Steph Curry is not on Magic’s level. The only time Steph passes the ball is so he can get free so you can give him the ball back for a shot. Magic was an entire offensive system, he could score at will on his own, but wasn’t selfish at all and looked to keep his teammates involved all game as a first priority. This is why he’s the greatest point guard of all time. He distributes, he gets 4 guys involved, he was an all around player but also had no weaknesses offensively. People complain about his allegedly poor jumpshot, but he averaged 52% FG for his career. He was a damn good midrange shooter. I remember. He passed all the eye tests. Only player on Magic’s level was MJ and Kareem. If you go all time, add Bill Russell. Steph is the greatest shooter of all time, but even being so he shot 11 for ~29 against a Lakers team last season in an elimination game, and the Lakers were far from the best team in the league last season.
