I like your distinction between “gimmicks” and “found items.”

Great review. Good, honest points on the negatives. I think what prevented me from purchasing the trick was that (from the spectator's perspective) I thought people might not want their signed card back thinking it was in your shoe with all of your "nasty foot sweat" over all of their signed card (that you would typically give away at the end)

Joe Givan originally released this in his lecture notes “Magic From the Attic” with other effects for $7. If memory serves, this was before the invention of the Mercury card fold and it worked with any shoe. He sold these at the same lectures in which he sold , “More Magic From the Attic” notes which are fantastic.

You are correct, that PDF is included in this trick - but Joel's trick is much different

Thank you, Jack! I would like to mention a couple of things about my included version that weren't covered in the review. First of all, it is NOT a different effect. It is the same, but utilizes a different gimmick. Secondly (and most important) is that, effect-wise, the performer does not touch the card. It is visually dump from the shoe directly into the hands of the spectator, who unfolds it themselves, revealing it is their signed card. Instantly resets. My handling also does not require a Mercury card fold.

Before the invention of the Mercury Card Fold? I had no Idea he was lecturing prior to the late 1930's

@@MexieMex - HA! Please note that I did not claim my version came before the Mercury Card Fold - I'm not THAT old! My version does NOT use a mercury card fold, anyway. The card is folded in half, not in fourths.

Thanks for review mate. I do card to shoe with no gimmicks. Was going to order it thinking it might be better! Won't bother now. Cheers

this has a nice visual of the card visually dropping into view and it allows you to have a convincing "dumping action" as the shoe turns over
@joegivan17492 жыл бұрын
I would like to point out that I created my included handling to avoid the moment of heat which is exactly when the card is revealed in the shoe. In the classic handlings, the magician does the "thing" when the card is seen in the impossible location - exactly when the spectators' are scrutinizing the card. By duping it directly into the spectator's waiting hand, this moment is a non-issue, as the performer apparently never touches the card.

not sure about sharing a card from my shoe 👞😜 … thanks for the review David 👍🏻👍🏻 How about card-to-shoe, without a shoe!

@@magicorthodoxy take a folded card and double sided tape it in your shoe under your foot. Then do the card to box dump switch. Just can't show inside your shoe at the end because the card is still there. Almost gimmickless.

@@davebozarth8633 the beauty of the mason effect is you don’t go near your shoe with your hands if I remember correctly. If you do the vanish to the display to a toe nudge to reappearance in the hand or mystery box style but the card is not folded and can be signed as well
