In this video I show how to perform the self solving Rubik's Cube magic trick. I've shown the trick twice on my channel but this was the first time I've revealed it!

The biggest group I've done this this for was an 8th grade class room. I was there to talk about the Rubik's Cube and what makes them so cool. I brought a basket with a bunch of puzzles and near the end I pulled this one out and started talking how this one was special because after only a few moves a little magic happens. They loved it!

Okay i get this, simple enough. But can you please explain steven Brundage solve where every single side is mixed, he throws it behind his back, and catches it solved on all 6 sides. Thanks.

That is similar but much harder to learn and perfect. Basically all the moves he does is completely memorized. He moves the sides of the cube to look scrambled but it's only a few moves from solved. Then he moves it a couple more moves from solved until it's only one move away. He then flicks the last move as he throws it in the air so that it is completely solved. It must take a lot of practice, because he does it very well!

RedKB i get the rubik nightmare method, yet he isn't doing that. I understand every solving method and he is clearly several moves away when he throws it behind his back. Unless he is an incredible one handed solver.

bryan rusinque Yeah so he starts srcrambling and he re-scralmble some move; at the end he makes 2 or 3 moves and it is an almost solved cube. Than he just has to do like 3 moves to solve it (this part is hidden).

even though this is an old video I still want to propose another method, what you could do is have two of the same cube then keep one behind you someone like in a pocket if you have big enough ones. You can then use throwing the cube up as a distraction so you can bend over a bit to hide your arm going behind you grabbing the newly solved the cube and bring both your hands back together and showing the newly solved cube. It would be hard to be pulled of but I think it's possible.

I saw this trick preformed 6 years ago at a magic show hosted by my school, and this is what got me into speed cubing in the first place. Although, it's kinda disappointing to know that it was a fake cube that started my obsession.

I don't know if you noticed, I'm not a magician. I'm a cuber. I don't make videos primarily for views, I make them to share with the cubing community. Videos like this may inspire a young cuber to take up magic. Lets be honest. Anyone with a brain can figure this illusion out. What's the point of hiding it? And besides, I've seen much poorer executions of this all over youtube, and I've even seen other videos revealing this illusion. BTW I wanted to say I just saw Garett's version. AMAZING!

"Steven Brundage" - and no. This trick being taught is an old method. Magicians these days can do it with a regular cube. And it can be mixed up by the audience. This trick is terrible.

If you get a couple really cheap speed cubes you can pop off one the little plastic faces and use the other cube to replace the colors. It makes it look a little more impossible because there's no stickers.

So you're the masked magician! I've been doing this effect for probably 10 years, fooled a zillion people, even people that know how to solve a cube. (I use the Daryl Martinez method.) I was doing it in a restaurant once and someone stole my gimmicked cube. (It was my opening trick at each table.) They probably thought it had springs inside, I doubt they ever figured out how it worked, since it was in the unsolved position. I didn't move stickers around, I would buy six cheap cubes and swap pieces, resulting in six magic cubes. Funny thing though, I just learned how to solve it the real way a few months ago. if you're talking about the recent popularity of that Cubing magician he can do his trick on any cube. you'll notive that his instant solves (the one without throws just a drop) you will notice that he shows off the scramble and then does a few more moves, but if you look quickly, right before the flip it's actually in a pattern where 3 sides are solved and 3 aren't, then he only shows the 3 that arent for an instant and then flips it to the opposite side behind his hand to give the illusion it's solved instantaneously

an easy way to prove it is to pause the video right before he flips, youll see that all the corners on the sides he shows you are solved, that's because my method requires all the corners to be solved in order for 3 sides to be solved.

I just purchased a real instant cube from MadHatter Magic Shop. Surprisingly you end fairly clean where cube can be inspected but you have to stop wild child from really jumbling. Surprisingly it's less than $10 which is less than an actual cube and the trouble you go through trying to create. It's done for you, less effort, looks great and the owner who answers his phone seems really nice. I purchased 2 and see myself abandoning my previous method which was the one shown here. Also there's a 3rd that tends to be flimsy and slightly more expensive. It doesn't even try to pass as Rubriks because it has 6 smaller rows and columns of colors. I found it so flimsy that I ended up getting the idea then altering mine to be less flimsy since that third one is more g whiz than trying to fool someone. I digress. The 2nd which I speak actually looks like Rubriks and can baffle the audience with less effort than style 1 of this video.

He could have used 2 cubes. Had you mix one up... Then when you gave it back to him he could have used some misdirection and slight of hand to switch the cube to a per-messed up cube. You wouldn't be able to tell the new one from the old even if they are differently scrambled. At least that's what I would do! :)
